I found the wording concerning because I tend to view evidence as evidence in the criminal trial sense (especially since we've had several trial watches recently at WS) but I guess they could be referring to evidence of his presence or his passing through a certain area in the search zone?? Clues would have been better used if that is the case JMO.

I also find it unusual that LE hasn't asked the public to search their own property and out buildings in case Josh took cover or hid from the elements somewhere. IME that is SOP in most small child wandered off missing cases.

I wouldn't read into this statement. Dog teams and trackers want to find evidence (or lack of!) Where he may have wandered off to.

I don't have enough info to feel that this isn't an accidental wandering at this point (especially withan autism diagnosis). There are lots of acceptable reasons mom could have taken an extended nap, I'm still hopeful for a good outcome here until we hear more.

Sleep issues are common in autistic kiddos. Of course, we have no idea how Joshie's autism affected his sleep/life, but it's not uncommon for autistic people to have irregular sleep schedules or patterns. I'm not going to side eye the long nap until more comes out about this case that gives us more reason to suspect something. My step son is autistic. He has sleep problems that upset daily life and he also only tiptoes (despite years of intervention and physical therapy) so he's very quiet when he walks and he can "sneak off" easily. This is a special needs missing boy, and so the search and situation has to be looked at with more nuance than with a neurotypical missing child IMO.

TY. Have you seen if it was reported the area or section of Stage Road little guy went missing from? It appears to be a long stretch with some being in Hauser proper and most being in a very wooded more rural area with few houses dispersed over a large area. Trying to get feel for the search area but hard to know without knowing whereabouts on Stage Rd. was his starting point. Also haven't seen as yet if Josh is known for elopement or attracted to water which is the case for some kids on the spectrum.

What I've come to learn is that Hauser is an unincorporated area, which made me wonder what city name they use for legal stuff. So I searched Zillow for Hauser properties and found that Zillow considers them North Bend. Hauser is north of North Bend by 6.3 miles.

I am so very worried for this young lad, may he be found safe soon!

IMOO - I don't really think anything of the nap this far - could be he went down for his scheduled nap at 1/1:30 and mom was feeling poorly, fell asleep at 2 or even 3 and woke up to find Joshua gone. He just wandered off whilst she was asleep. I don't think he slept from 1 to 5:30 - but I can imagine someone who is sleep deprived and/or down with the flu for example, sleeping in the pm from 2 to 5:30 pm (I know dayquill knocks me on my behind, even the otc allergy pills make me very drowsy)

He could have wandered out and got lost whilst mom slept - I have no idea how long they lived there or how familiar Joshua is with that area. I don't think we have any appeal from family or info on family circumstances (siblings? single mom? custody issues? family in the area he would have liked to walk to? playpark he wanted to go to?) so hard to make an informed opinion imoo. So I just decided to hope for the very best for now.

Either way - let's hope Joshua gets home safe and sound today.

That seems like a long nap, but maybe she works nights or was really fatigued caring for a special needs child.

Still, I would think she'd have some sort of locks on the doors/windows.

I remember when our youngest two were 3 and 4 and they were a handful. I was fatigued and laid them down for naps and when I thought they were asleep, I laid down on my bed. I must have dozed off but I woke up to a scraping noise. I was a little discombobulated but looked down the stairs just in time to see the 4-year old climb down off the chair they'd pushed up to the door and climbed on to reach the lock. Then they darted out of the house and I ran after--barefooted. At the front sidewalk, they split and ran in separate directions. Fast! They were such fast kids! I finally caught up with them (together) on the other side of the block. They were on a neighbor's swingset. After that, my husband installed a better lock on the door.

It happens if children are determined. They don't mention Josh's personality, but I pray he's alive and that they find the little guy soon.

true, who knows, maybe mom had no clue the nap would extend that long. Maybe normally when she lays down to nap with Josh he wakes her well before 4.5 hours have passed. Maybe the reason she slept so long was because he was no longer in the house to awaken her.

Very well could be the case- many times I’d crash hard and it was my kiddos waking me up over the baby monitor or by poking me if we were resting together- not sure how long I would have slept back then if someone hadn’t been hungry -

IMHO, that's nowhere near enough for an autistic child. He could have been that far away, IMHO, by the time she woke up and realized he's missing.

If there is thick underbrush, it would be difficult for an adult to get through let alone a child. IMO. Most Forrests are so thick you can only get through using game trails.

My thoughts exactly.
If the sweet-looking little guy woke up an hour or so before his mom -- likely, IMO -- he could be anywhere. Or nowhere, STS.
Hoping for a good outcome.
