19-year-old Krista DeLa Rosa went missing on June 27, 1990 in Southeast Portland. She had gone to meet with a man in the area of Southeast 130th Avenue and Southeast Division Street — but never returned home.
The man was described at the time as Black, 25-30 years old, with a thin moustache, a slender build and "dressed nice." Rosa was last seen in his cream-colored 1983-1988 Oldsmobile or Ford Toronado with vinyl top and license plate "similar to QNC704." She has not been seen since.
Anyone with information about the cases listed is asked to contact detectives at 503-988-0560, by email at [email protected] or via the tip submission form. People can also report anonymously to Crime Stoppers of Oregon.

According to Detective Tamari Johnson with MCSO, Krista had gone out with a friend before she disappeared.

Johnson said a "female friend" reported that she dropped Krista off near SE 130th Ave. and SE Division St. The friend claimed that that is when she saw Krista get into the car with someone else.

"A friend sees them leave in the car and last thing going northbound, I-205, and then unknown where the vehicle went," Johnson said. "This gentleman was described as a, he was dressed nicely and just casual clothing, cylinder built, had a thin mustache."

The car the man was driving is described as a "cream colored 1983-1988 Oldsmobile or Ford Toronado with vinyl top."

At the time, a license plate number was noted: QNC704. However, when detectives ran that number through their system, nothing came up.

"Unfortunately, it returned as unable to locate. What that means is that it's either a number off, a letter off, or the sequence isn't correct. Had we had the correct plate number, we would know who the registered owner is, and we would have had more information 30 years ago," she said.

I'm glad this information is continuing to be provided and hopefully it's still seen as some kind of "lead". Even reporting it in the media may jog someone's memory about something that may be pertinent.

There are people who alter their plates so they aren't trackable - that is entirely possible, along with all of the other reasons they couldn't identify the registered owner. The person who noted the tag # may have told them exactly what was on it.

Totally agree! Krista's case never got much coverage sadly, I hope by revealing the license plate number and description of the car it generates some further leads. It does appear she left voluntarily at first, but 35 years have past and detectives can find no paper trail. Where are you Krista?

Cream colored car may hold clue in decades-old Krista Dela Rosa case

This article features the letter Krista left her parents before she disappeared.

It reads:

Dear mom and dad,

Once again, I have left. Not because of you, but because of me. I don't know what to say. I'm tired of pretending that I can be happy. I have no explanation to you or to myself, for leaving. I know you both love me and I love both of you. Just go on. I'll keep in contact. I'll be careful. I won't let anyone hurt me. I'm leaving on my own. I'm almost 20 years old. I made this decision myself. No pressures, no lies. Please for once let me be. Let me make my own mind. Let this be our business and not everyone else's. I wish I could have shown you better my appreciation for all your love, but I never could I guess! I love both of you very much and I never meant to hurt either one of you. I'm just doing what I want. You can never hold that back in me. I'll always do what I want. That's just how I am.

Please forgive me and always keep me in your hearts and prayers.

Love Always Your Daughter,

Krista
