Whose pings can they track? I mean - do they have to have substantail reason to believe that it may be related to the case? Or can they just track people that they have a sort of vague feeling about?

They have to get a warrant. So a judge would have to feel that the request is not unreasonable or an invasion of privacy per the 4th amendment.

There's nothing wrong with parents. There is, however, something wrong with a justice system that allows child molestors to roam free around our children and grandchildren. There is DEFINITELY something wrong with a culture that spawns these perverts and then protects them.

No, there is nothing wrong with the parents other than the fact they still believe their children can breathe God's fresh air and play on the green grass.

When are WE, as the United States of America, going to say, "enough is enough," and put these baby rapers to death?

Agreed! When I read about parents not allowing their 14 year old sons and daughters to ride their bicycles alone or walk down the block, I think, "Is this really the way you want to live?" Or driving your kids everywhere instead of letting them walk - how does that make a community safer to have everyone locked in their cars and speeding by at 30 miles an hour?! Not to mention, the kid is more likely to be injured or killed in a car accident than abducted!

No sleuthing of family members!!!! If you feel this is an option then fine but don't post it! It is against the rules; and, I would hate for the thread to be locked out yet again because people can't abide by the rules!:furious:

I completely understand not sleuthing family members as they are victims also. It's just hard in the case of missing children when statistics show 49% involve immediate family members.

But as far as not making an arrest before they find him, assuming they have a suspect in mind...what if they never find Kyron? Is this going to turn into one of those cases? Where no arrests are made? That is a frightening thought...

Especially since it has finally warmed up here. I think he is either in the lake at Sauvie Island, or was dumped into the Columbia River.

Which lake at Sauvie Island?

Wonder if perp is under illusion of "no body, no trial". For those familiar with the area, if a body was dumped off Sauvie Island bridge OR into Columbia River 10 days ago, where might it be now if it hasn't washed up?

OH I hope not.... maybe this is why they need video proof of him with someone?

I think it's got to be beyond this ... it's got to be about helping kids to listen to their gut and trusting themselves to say no or yes in a situation where they feel something is not right. I am thinking of the case of that Utah boy whose discovery was delayed because he was avoiding ALL strangers - the very searchers who were looking for him! His parents had taught him to not talk to strangers, stay away from strangers, and he took that literally! Or the case of Adam Walsh, who apparently waited for his mother at the entrance of a shopping mall instead of going to a shop clerk or security guard or some other adults within the store to get help finding his mother.

Its tough to follow your gut even as an adult. Just on america's most wanted last night, girls thought they were ok letting this man drive them home, since he was so nice. At first they felt comfortable with him. One even called him an angel. I can't think of the girls names. But I believe they are mention on ws.

I really feel this policy is wrong. I think in the case of missing children, LE should be able to get anyone's cell records or search anyone's land that they want to. It just wastes valuable time and if you are innocent, you wouldn't care anyway.

Yes, I agree it is hard not to look at family members. It's just that we have been asked not to point fingers here. It starts w/ a small comment and others jump on board and start in. I just don't want the mods to lock this thread again. It seems like everytime I get into reading it gets locked.

FWIW, I do not feel the family (or at least the SM) are involved in this case. I could be wrong; but, even LE is saying the family is not suspect.

Day ten.

If he is in water,

he should surface today or tomorrow.

How I hate writing this.

I just wanted to say (as someone mentioned previously), it really depends on the temperature of the water. I helped spend almost 3 weeks searching for my then boyfriend's cousin (Justin Garrick) when he fell off of a boat and hit his head at Boca Reservoir at the young age of 17 (he was not wearing a life jacket and was out with his friends and their parents).

We had professional divers there (they volunteered which was so nice) and they searched the place where he fell out (it was marked with a buoy) and other sites just in case, every day for a few weeks. We walked the edges of the reservoir every single day, went around in boats, did everything to try and find him.

Finally, most of us could not be away from work anymore. My then boyfriend's father, the boy's father (brothers) and a few other people were still out there when he finally surfaced almost exactly where the buoy was. The poor boy's family (including his father) helped tie life jackets to his body so he wouldn't disappear again.

It boggles my mind as to why no divers could find him down there. Apparently, the temperature of the reservoir kept him for surfacing from June 26 until July 18. I am not sure how cold/deep the water is where Kyron could be.

This case boggles my mind. I've never been so pulled into every direction when attempting to figure out what could have happened to him. At this point, if someone told me they had evidence he went to a fortune telling machine, wished to be 'BIG', his body grew into an adult overnight and he was living in his own home with a nice job, afraid to freak out his parents, I'd probably believe them.

Thank you. That post makes me feel safe from those that would deviate from the TOS that keep us all safe. We really do need a reminder from time to time.

I think LE can obtain warrants for phone records on people close to Kyron and on anyone else if they have reasonable reason to believe they could be a suspect...a judge would probably sign off. And I am feel they are working from this info. JMO

It's too bad cell phone pings won't work like reverse 911 does. Collect all the pings from the school that morning and see who was there.

Can they do that?

I disagree... I love my constitutional rights. And I don't want them to be chipped away for any reason... slippery slope and all that. This is my opinion and I don't expect anyone to feel the way that I do about it.

It only takes minutes to get a warrant from a judge. Especially in the case of a missing child with national media attention. I would guess that Multco investigators have a hotline to the judge right now, so that any warrants can be signed quickly.

Well, one article I read said searchers on horseback (yesterday or day before) were going north on Sauvie Island Road, which would take them right through the wildlife area. I don't know what you mean by "park like setting" as Sauvie Island is pretty much all rural. Do you mean something with children's playground equipment like a neighborhood park or something more densely overgrown like a forest? I would say Sauvie Island is more meadow like, with farmland and some marshy areas, and some trees, too, but it's not heavily forested. I was actually surprised by the photo someone posted of it, showing a big hill with lots of evergreens on it. I don't recognize that view as being from the island, though I must admit I haven't been to the upper north end of the island (by sturgeon lake). That would be the area furthest away from the bridge, far from the areas LE are reportedly searching.

The big hills in the background are not part of the island. The Multnomah Channel runs between the hills and the island. The island itself is flat and perfect for farming.

I have a hard time believing anyone would dump a body off the bridge to Sauvie Island during the day. Maybe in the wee hours of the night, but Sauvie Island is only one lane each way. It's populated well enough on Hwy 30 and the bridge that I'd think a reasonable person wouldn't risk being seen there throwing something into the water. But I suppose someone could dispose of a body or other evidence somewhere else along the river. I have no idea how the current runs in the Multnomah Channel.
