so the student got that part of his story right? is this tanner or another student?

That was Tanner, yes, sorry, I couldn't remember his name. That was when he was saying the sub ( we assume now, volunteer) was counting, said, oh no there is supposed to be 6.... the teacher saying to calm down, etc...

I guess we really have no way of knowing if anything he said is really true, or the way it happened or not. I do know, there are not too many people that can tell stories like young boys. We know he was being encouraged to talk by his grandmother, and he had to have something to talk about, I suppose.

I don't know what he meant about contacting legal, but I have two thoughts on the matter:

One, for some reason, he is genuinely concerned about coworkers or fellow Intel employees (remember, most people at Intel do not know each other; I know at least half a dozen people who work at Intel's campus in Hillsboro and none of them work together) violating some kind of Intel legal protocol ... in the midst of all this!?

Two, Intel - like many large corporations - may offer legal counsel to employees for minimal cost, and he wants to get counsel before anyone does anything apart from distribute Kyron's photo around. I have to say, we have access to legal services through my partner's employer, and if my child were to disappear, I would absolutely retain legal counsel ESPECIALLY if I had nothing to do with my child's disappearance. For all kinds of reasons. Not just as a way of protecting myself, but as a way of having some power in the situation, and in dealing with the LE and other people. Still, I DON'T think I'd link seeking counsel with my friends/family talking to the media.

Now I'm scratching my head over this. I just don't see myself being concerned with co-workers talking to KATU or KGW or KOIN about what type of person I am or what type of work I do. I mean, what could they say that would reduce the chances of my child being located? I don't know.

What did he mean he was going to contact the legal department at his work? was this because he did not want anyone to speak to the media? I guess I don't understand that part. The media helps get the info out that your child is missing so I would be speaking to anyone that listened. The police has already said they had not told the parents /family to not speak to the media. The more you speak to the media the more the story is out and the more people see your son's pictures. Oh I know I have 5 boys LOL, I am trying determine if we are tossing all of tanners statement or just parts of it. thanks.

Found it for you, JBean.

It is only logical to assume that IF his teacher saw him at school that morning, she realized that he should be in her classroom because she is his teacher. She would have started looking for him if she had not been told that he would not be in her class that day. He was there at school and therefore, should have been in her class.

I'm not reading anything into their not having anyone come out and talk about how wonderful they are. As we have seen, it's a can't win situation. People were upset because they didn't speak to the press and then when they did they were picked apart. There were plenty of people giving her good wishes when her Facebook was open. If I were in their situation I would ask my friends to keep quiet, too.

The only other thing that caught my eye was the word "comfortable"
"Forward Kyron’s information to as many people as you feel comfortable with; the more people that see this will increase our chances of finding him"

The last line also breaks my heart like he has already given up some on his son coming home. Idk what it is about it but it just reads that way to me.

My heart goes out to him and his family so much. :( just breaks my heart :(

Five  My hat's off to you!

I guess maybe we shouldn't try to use Tanner's statement too precisely out of desperation to build a time line. That has bothered me all along. Why would the teacher say that about the bathroom if she thought he was absent or had an appointment? I shouldn't count too much on Tanner's words.

BBM Maybe he didn't have yellow or a light blue?

Perhaps I am terribly ignorant, but as a mother of 7 children who have collectively drawn at least 1000 pictures (times 10, LOL), I guess I don't understand how people are reading so much into 2 pictures. So he drew a picture of a squirrel holding an acorn with a few other acorns at the top of the page and a feather? How does that mean that the squirrel is sad and all alone and whatnot? Isn't that people projecting their feelings onto a picture? I looked at the pictures and thought they were really well-drawn for a 7 year old. My 8 year old daughter is a good artist and loves to draw ~ many of her pictures are of solitary animals. Does that mean she's sad and sending some unconscious message to the world? Seriously? I'm not being sarcastic here... I truly don't understand how anyone is getting such deep interpretations of a drawing. Most 7 year olds aren't deep thinkers and I guess I just have trouble believing that Kyron was drawing a solitary squirrel as a cryptic message about how his step-mother was doing something wrong and making him feel horrible about it (or whatever).

I do know that children who have been abused will draw pictures for LE when they can't articulate what happened. I believe that is legit. But does anyone know the circumstances under which those 2 pictures shown were drawn? Isn't it possible that Kyron was sitting at home or at school, happy as can be, and engaging in an activity he enjoyed? Could he have drawn a chipmunk because he recently saw one and liked it? Could it be as simple as that or are there truly hidden meanings in every single drawing a child does? Because honestly, if there are, I'd sure be interested in knowing the significance of my autistic boys' artwork!

Because we are sleuthers and that is what we do here at webSLEUTH
Also I do not recall saying anything about there being a cryptic message about how his stepmom was doing something wrong or making him feel horrible.
You are right maybe there is nothing to the pictures, but then again maybe there is, and since they were released by the media and LE we can discuss them.
OF course all of the above is JMO!!!

when I look at that sun face, I feel his energy coming through it, a lot.
I usually get feelings like this from my mom's artwork, who is passed away, or from photographs (mostly eyes) of people who are no longer alive.

I just wanted to share this, and I hope I don't insult anyone by doing so, but these pictures are really intense for me

i am really a compluter clutz...i do not know how to post links but...if you go to webshots welcome to my house of cards you will see a pretty good likeness (its been bugging me even if it is kind of irrelevant)

LOL, why thank you for looking so hard!

It is sad. And it is a strangely dispassionate letter. Maybe he was in shock, I don't know. I am not one to flip out in horrible situations, either, but I don't think I'd care about what other people are comfortable with in a time like that. Kaine Horman must be extraordinarily polite.

OT JBean thank you for staying up with us! Being a mom of 5 boys is hard work so I know staying up late with us IS work when you could be resting!! I Have six kids and I am about to knock out tired LOL

ok I see, so you assumed that she knew. got it. you posted as if that were reported and so I got excited there for a second.

see i assumed that since she knew there was a parent on the premises prior, she wasn't too concerned about his whereabouts because it was an altogether unusual day. but i guess neither of us really know yet.

My goodness 5 and 6 kids, I am honored to be in your presence, I only have 3 and they run me down. I am impressed, God Bless both of you.

you're sweet.
hahaha my kids are grown and almost all gone ;only an 18 yo left at home.
but with that said i have to work in the morning so figure this out while I sleep k?

LOL, why thank you for looking so hard!

lol...you know its time to go to bed when you start looking for joker art....but ya gotta admit that was pretty close to that drawing...and on that note i am going to bed...irony to all this is i work at an elementary school and i have been trying to superimpose this case on what is happening in my real world and two words...ozzam's razor

I can't imagine what his teacher is feeling right now. A lot of What if's I am sure. Bc of that I am sending prayers to the teachers also. Although I don't understand what the teacher is feeling I still don't understand if she seen him why he was not reported to the office as missing. I mean I understand she seen him with SM but its not really normal for parents to bring the kids to school just for the 1st hour or so. Or just for a Science fair . Or well not in my kids school.

On the same hand. If she really did think SM said he had an appointment she may of thought SM brung him for the fair only since he put so much work in the project.

IDK but I sure wish they would release more info on the case. I know at times they can't but I can wish bc everything is getting so confusing.

Portland Public Schools to Make Changes to Absentee Policy
http://www.kgw.com/video?id=96349739&sec=547977

Though we don't know if it would have made any difference in this situation ... if the teacher believed that Kyron wasn't supposed to be in school, he would have been marked absent, and there would be no call. Unless the policy is very strict and says missing school requires a letter from the parent.
