Disturbing.

I know. I re-read it recently. Control thing going on with Dad?

The other thought I had here is that Tony, the LE detective step-father gave Kaine instruction about quickly warning co-workers & friends & the like to clam up, before the media storm ensued.

But if that were the case, then I don't get why the sheriff's and his spokesmen would say that that this is an isolated incident and no other children are in danger.

Sounds very specific to me.

I don't think that this is a sexual crime. At least the perp's motivation wasn't sexual gratification.

Again, jmo.

Very rare that it is about sex - it's about power and control.

If your child was missing, would your friends/family/coworkers speak to the press and tell them that your marriage was healthy, you didn't beat your children, and you could never hurt your child?

oh good grief. I'll have to ask them tomorrow. :waitasec:

Knowing my family, they'd hold out for the $250K from the People Magazine paid interview interior spread thing.

LOL then everyone would say why are they saying that? No one accused them of anything. Why get defensive if no one is making accusations.

The more media that shows up increases the number of people that could identify Kyron if they spotted him. IMO, this sounds like someone tried to spin the situation as a ransom abduction. Phew....something stinks!

I was taken at gunpoint at my office one day as were a few other people. After the swat team arrived and we gave our statements to LE, the news crews were everywhere. An officer pulled me aside and said, you can do what you want but I strongly recommend you not go on camera.Perps were not caught and who knows what they may do. I took his advice and shared it with another co-worker that had been held hostage. Still and all within 5 minutes she was in front of every news camera. She just had to be on TV. LOL.

Good God, JBean, what a horrific thing to go through.

Some people like the camera, I suppose, or there'd be no Grandma Flo or Jerry Springer.

I would like to know if LE have talked to any parents with kids marked absent that day and haven't come back.I'm sure there are some parents that have kept thier kids out. There's always the possibility a parent or guardian had a child, saw Kyron and coerced him to leave with them, look for a tree frog, etc.

Probably a longshot, but a boy was abducted, raised by his abductor and went to school.Later, the abductor took another boy and the first boy, then a teen, escaped with the child. They made a movie of it,sad story, horrific. But anyway, there could be a child taken and now being raised by the man or woman, found an opportunity to take Kyron.I'm just throwing this out there, because I've run out of scenarios, actually.

This statement is from a 7 year old. Today, my 7 year old goddaughter told me that her dad had to be neutered so they wouldn't have any more kittens.
She was cute, but confused.

LOL! When my son was about that age, I went into the bathroom where our new puppy was. I noticed that the pee pad for the puppy was positively SOAKED with urine. I called him to the bathroom, in amazement--to show him. Look what the pup did! "No mom, I did that. You told me I'd have to help potty train the dog."

Kids are great. :)

How cute is that. My son, long time ago, explained the birth of his sister by saying... she was born because daddy put on gloves and planted seeds in the garden. Out of the mouth of babes huh?

I have a relative who was diagnosed ADHD (and medicated) as a kid. He didn't do art therapy - he took art lessons (at the suggestion of a counselor and his mom, who noticed him sketching during one of their conversations about his "behavior"). Today he is a professional artist, and makes very good money at it!

I also have friends who do art therapy with children who are autistic, have been abused, neglected, etc. They do not make anything close to $100/hr! More like $12-15/hr.

Maybe that doctor was trying to rip you off!
I have some pretty strong feelings about "art therapy" at $100/hour. I was once told my ADHD son should enroll in "art therapy" because he needed to express his inner feelings. I told the physician that he played ice hockey and then I changed doctors.

O M G!! That is so cute!! Helping the puppy!! (I can relate to this, I raised two sons!)

Guffaw!

I'm glad you brought this up. It's good to go back & look at it now in retrospect. It did, at first, seem from that e-mail that perhaps like Kaine believed it was some kind of kidnapping. And, maybe they did. Or maybe he did. But why?

And, as we've said, LE step-dad throws in another twist of possibilities.

I do think Intel helped quite a bit with SAR support/food donations. I imagine Kaine has had help in various ways from the Intel community, and is on some kind of lengthy paid leave.

Oh my goodness, how frightening, glad noone was hurt. And this is my point about all the media photographing kids at the school and in thier homes interviewing.I'd freak out on media if they showed my kids.

I think it would be a normal response to explain that your friends are a loving family and no abuse occurred in their home. They didn't do it, so please come help search for their child.
