This is curious. The AP has issued a photo elimination on the photo of Kyron with the orange background. According to THIS WEBSITE, a photo elimination is a photo that carries no threat of legal action but is objectionable for other reasons, such as error, poor taste, or inaccuracy (including photoshop). When these occur, either an AP photo KILL or ELIMINATION is moved, alerting members.

For an example of an AP elimination, read THIS ARTICLE.

On the Atlanta Journal Constitution's website is an article about Kyron. They accidentally ran the eliminated photo with the article, although it's now restricted by the AP, so it's not to be used in association with an AP article.

What in this photo is in error, poor taste, or innacurate (photoshopped)? Anyone want to guess?

Here are screencaps:

He looks younger in that picture. My guess is they want to post the most recent pictures of him for better accuracy.

That still brings us back to which entrance is considered the south entrance. I would call the front entrance the south entrance, because it faces south most directly. But the front entrance is on the ground floor and Kyron's class has been described in at least one story as being on the second floor.

The entrance from the parking lot faces slightly southeast, so it may be considered the south entrance. It appears to be on the second floor so it fits.

Either way it looks like he exited the school at some time soon after he was last seen.

Every time I see a report with photos of that dense forest and brush around the school, my heart just sinks :(

To reduce confusion about the direction each door of Skyline Elementary faces, see the four images below. NOTE THE COMPASS IN THE TOP LEFT CORNER OF EACH PHOTO.

The southern front entrance (southwest really):

The western side entrance (northwest really):

The northern back of the school (northeast):

And the eastern side of the school, with the driveway (southeast):

Just refer to the compass and ignore everyone else including me! Definitely confusing! :waitasec:

Thank you so very much, truthsleuth! That makes it much, much clearer.

I don't like see all those trees so near that door. Too easy for someone to lurk there, while still being within 'talking' distance to the door. Also so close to parking spaces. And right out to the road so closeby. :(

I'm pretty sure LE would use directionally south for the sake of accuracy and preciseness, such as on the pic above from truthsleuth with the compass.

Yes, Kyron's class has been stated to be on the second floor, so between 8:45am when his stepmom left him near his classroom, and late morning when he was seen at the south entrance, it looks like he, for some reason, went downstairs. LE hasn't said where the third sighting at 9am was, so I don't know what happened in between 8:45 and late morning as to where he went or what he was doing.

I see a lot of questions about searching etc..

I had posted this at 11:31pm PST on Friday 6/4/2010 the night Kyron went missing.

They are still there I'm watching it live on the news. Over 100 searchers from several different agencies

Just shown on GMA on the west coast:

22 agencies are working on finding Kyron.

Going over what we know about the morning. No one knew he disappeared until 7 hours after SM watched him walk to class. Still no answers. Aunt wants more flyers up and do not give up hope.

Almost 1,500 tips and LE is tight lipped about the tips, but they want more.

I know the thread is moving fast and furiously-I read a statement by a Karen Martinez IIRC this morning who was ID'd as mom's sister. Is this the Step-mom's sister or bio mom's? And does anyone know where bio-mom lives? Any chance she was feeling left out of the science fair/talent show events etc and came to pick him up...

I just looked at the school location on google maps...what a massive amount of woods!
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sou...403,-122.854979&spn=0.006605,0.01929&t=h&z=16

Wow, that's the first of me looking at the school on a map. That amount of woodland would take forever and a day to search. It's a beautiful place though. Is the school out in the boonies? I just don't see many houses around it or whatever. I don't know anything at all about OR (or most other parts of the US!).... so sorry if it seems a dumb question.

The caption under Kyron's squirrel picture says "Kyron loved to draw." (Past tense.) Maybe that's why it made you feel funny BeanE. It sure made me feel funny. I hope they change the caption...

Squirrel pic caused something in me to feel "funny" too. Not the response I usually feel when viewing kids artwork. This is the second time a squirrel has been mentioned - was step-moms license plate squirrel or red squirrel? Why the reference to the squirrels? - Maybe it is nothing.........maybe the family was fond of squirrels, funny how the most mundane topics are now questioned.
Sorry if someone already mentioned this not quite done reading the thread yet.
MOO I do not think it was a peer, I take the truck and possible sightings to mean there is an adult involved.

The picture made me feel sad, simply and only because it was a cute picture obviously drawn by a little child, and that child is now missing. It made me cry.

I wasn't implying that there was anything odd, weird, suspicious, hinky, questionable, or in any way related to Kyron's disappearance about it.

It just made me cry because Kyron must have had fun drawing it, just being a kid, and now he is missing, and I wish to God he was just still drawing pictures and busy being a kid.

The Early Show (on the west coast just now)

Authorities following up on more than 1,200 tips. (Going over what we know about the timeline). Rescue teams are searching a 2 mile radius around the school. SM, father and mother are in Portland keeping a low profile. A girl from the school says he is kind and nice and wouldn't just go away from the school.

I don't know where the link is now because I think I was reading it late last night.(not the Drood link, but the following info). But do you remember that Drood who had a comment about the appointment?

I know I read last night somewhere on here that the appointment comment has been confirmed, but it was said that "wires were crossed". Implying that the appointment was for another day. Obviously, Monday.

So, LE could certainly check if there was an appointment on Monday.

It's interesting that Drood's comments are verified (I believe). No link, however from me. ( about the verification info about the appt. Does anyone know where it is?)

Right now, for me, it comes down to the appointment.

So, if the teacher didn't hear it correctly-the appt was for Monday, that is why she marked him absent and didn't call. She heard that the appt was for that day.

I feel that the teacher is totally vindicated.

So, what about this appt?

Don't know if this has been answered, but the photo elimination thing may be some threat of legal action from a school photo service or other copyrighted company that made the picture. Some of those places are very protective of reprint rights, although I can not imagine anyone being so selfish as to threaten legal action in a case like this.

Sorry, just read that AP statement says "no threat of legal action" so maybe just a REQUEST that it no longer be used. I don't think it is the best representation of what he looks like now anyway, as the glasses are different as are his teeth in the newer pictures.

i sure hope that's not the case, that would be pretty low on the photo service's part! it seems school photos are used for most missing children's cases, even looking back many years at missing children on the charley project, school pics are displayed.

i wonder if it has something to do with the quality of the photo -- it looks like a smaller pic that has been 'blown up' in photoshop or some other program -- it is definitely not as clear as it could be.

I don't remember reading anything anywhere that stated that Kyron's Science project was brought in on Friday morning. I could be wrong, but it would seem to me, that since the Science Fair started (or was open for viewing) as early as 8 AM, that all the Science Fair projects would have most likely been dropped off at the school the day before or sooner.

Other children did ride the bus on Science Fair morning, so some must have either brought their Science projects on the bus, or brought it in the day before or earlier.

If anyone can find a link that states step mom and Kyron brought the Science project in on Friday June 4, the day he disappeared, I would be interested in seeing it.

I believe the reason Teri (step mom) drove Kyron to school that morning was so she could attend the Science Fair with him. Looks like she wanted to get a picture of him with his Science project.

*snipped*
That's asinine... in the morning Kyron had his science project and couldn't ride the bus. In the afternoon he had already been missing for 6.5 hours! Of course he wasn't on the bus.

My guess this is a result of the school's almost "open policy" that morning. Seems like parents and children were coming in and out at a rapid pace. This was someone who knew this event was going on. It wasn't a random out of place stranger in a gray pickup truck.

They hopefully are looking at lists of male parents. Furthermore -- That list should be narrowed down to which of these parents didn't go to THEIR job Friday. Break it down even further to male parents who are convicted sex offenders.

Could be Kyron knew the abductor so he didn't seem anxious about walking out the front door with him. If the perp was stopped on the way out and questioned -- he could have played it off -- and Kyron could have gone back to class.

When he wasn't stopped -- there was really nothing at that point stopping him.

It was someone though that looked like they fit in.
