I looked back thru the threads to some extent, but did not find it. Was the toddler along with them at the science fair?

I have never seen a answer to that question. If someone knows please let us know.

I agree with protecting the family, but them not wanting community volunteers, and reward money confuses me so much!

He said early on they didn't want to take away from kyron's search by having to search for civilians lost in that mess... have you seen photos of the areas where they've been searching? You couldn't pay me enough to go into all that.

I'm still listening to the presser and so this will be very short. But, did I hear correctly that Gates would like to set up time to sit with all of the media off-camera? What would be the purpose of that? My gut says that he's going to ask them to lay off asking certain questions. And, in my opinion, the reason they want to keep the media quiet is because they know something. I'm not sure what that something is, but I am convinced that LE has information that they are strongly against sharing with the public as a whole at this time.

I support all that LE is doing. But, these press conferences are creating more questions and anxiety in my mind than they are doing to alleviate it. My only concern is that Kyron is found and returned home.

The presser just ended with Gates, again, asking if it would be okay to meet with the media off-camera. I understand and respect LE and what they are doing, but it does cause me some concern and definitely makes me question what is not being said.

It's maddening! We all want to help. We all want to see Kyron home safe. I sure hope and pray that LE knows what they are doing!

Did anyone else catch the captain's slight smile when he was talking about the biggest frustration being that they want to bring Kyron home as soon as possible?

I noticed him smiling and thought it was odd - don't recall exactly when. I was thinking something along the lines of 'he must be getting this on air thing down and feeling more comfortable'.

As a "family statement" this was very disappointing. Sounds like it was written by LE. Nothing personal about how much they love and miss him, what he means to them, etc.

The continued emphasis on it being about Kyron and not them makes me think they have something to hide, not necessarily about his disappearance, but something to hide. When families have given statements before the focus doesn't necessarily shift to them.

I just find this odd.

bbm

That's a given, IMO.

The statement focused on kyron and the search, just like they said they wanted.

This tells me that LE might be building a case against someone and volunteers and a reward will not be needed. And a case against who? I have nooooo clue.

That is the only conclusion I can come to as well.

Can someone transcribe the statement or link, can't watch I'm at work. TIA

That is a presser that I want to watch again.

I'm pretty sure of one thing, unfortunately LE doesn't appear to be looking in places for a live kid.

PDX has been tight with other cases as well. There is one case where a husband is suspected of killing his wife and LE won't even say where they found her car. Forgive me that the woman's name escapes me at the moment.

And Brooke Willburger....Until they found her body, I found out more about the Portland case by following her murderers rape case in New Mexico. Oregon LE had been recovering her body for days before anyone found out about it.

Total inside geekiness here, but background.. Portland Police Bureau has some major internal problems going on right now.. 3 officer shooting deaths of mentally ill people in the past several months. The Chief wasjust fired, and the mayor removed the police commissioner. PPB is not super popular right now.

This case is headed by Multnomah County Sheriff's office (and they seem to be doing a terrific job). MCSO has had it's own share of drama over the past couple of years BUT their primary role in the metro area is to run the jail system. They only do investigative work in the 'rural' parts of the county. The school must be *just* over their boundary.

The Brooke Willburger case was in Corvallis, about 60 miles south of the Portland metro area, so that would have been their local cops. But I agree.. we also learned more about her case from the out of state coverage!

IIRC: In Nadia's search, LE made a point to let everybody know, if they did not take LE's advice, and they got lost or stuck while searching on their own, THEY WERE ON THEIR own. They were not gonna take away from searching for Nadia to rescue an unapproved searcher.

Am I remembering that right, or did I dream it???? Could be either. Sometimes details run together from case to case for me.

Let me get this straight. They have not searched the family's property, but they are asking people to search their own property and outbuildings and even check with neighbors who have may need assistance searching their properties. Strange.

I agree 100%!! I would think one of the absolute first places you would search besides the location last seen in, would be his home! The only reason I can think of that not happening would be if the homeowner refused the search without a warrant.

Maybe Gates is saying it is 'absolutely not true - did not happen' that they needed to get a warrant, that the family agreed to a search and it has already happened. Is this how that was intended? What exactly was the reporter's question about the search warrant?

And thank God somebody went out on his own (after praying about it) and FOUND her ALIVE!!!!! May God grant him many years!!!!

Miranda Gaddis Family Reaches Out

Terri Duffey and Miriah Gaddis find it difficult to watch the news coverage. “We know what they're going through and it's hard and it's scary. Our story, our situation, didn't end up as well but we are holding onto hope for their son,” said Terri Duffey.
Duffey and her niece Miriah Gaddis plan to place fliers in their town of Oregon City, where Miranda Gaddis and Ashley Pond vanished 8 years ago. Unlike Kyron, Miranda Gaddis never made it to school.

Another sad case. Nice they are helping.

That makes sense to me. Maybe they know who just not the "where is Kyron." OR maybe they fear that a larger reward will encourage people to start searching on their own and that would get in the way of their investigation/searches?:waitasec:

Did he state they haven't searched the family's property OR that they had not executed a search warrant?

LE may well have already searched their property with their permission. No warrant needed.

O/T:
I'm one of those who think he was guided by God right to her.
I know a lot of people don't believe in that, and that's ok. But, it gives me hope.

I think what was said is that *no search warrant has been issued for the Hormon family property* (a rumor from..?yesterday/this AM). Officer was very firm about that.
(my notes)
Yes using canine
"report about a search warrant is absolutely incorrect, it did not happen."
media, stay off private property

The follow up question was if evidence had been taken to a magistrate to *get* a search warrant.. answer "no comment".

However, remember when Zoey Dorsey was found? Those were volunteers, and had it not been for them, she might not have been found alive. They were miles away from the designated search area.
