I think the sub left - she said "alright" in response to teacher saying he probably left to go to br or get drink - and then left.

It looks to me like the substitute also. And that makes me wonder why the teacher didn't follow up, since she thought Kyron had just gone to the bathroom or for some water.

Terri Horman, Kyron’s stepmother, hasn’t been completely silent. She has spent some time on Facebook since Friday responding to posts from friends and talking about her workouts, which is more that Jensen said he finds unusual.

“What I know from being an investigator and dealing with parents in tragic situations like this - homicides, kidnappings, stuff like that - they just really couldn’t much function other than to sit and wait for us to call,” he said.

Jensen said investigators could be asking the Horman’s to be silent and to carry on with their lives as normal, but he said in his experience it is extremely difficult for families to be quiet and stay away from a search scene when a loved one, especially a child, is missing.

I've seen this posted a couple of times, just jumping off Suzi's quotes here with my thoughts upon watching this video:

I think Jensen, being a former investigator of "homicides kidnappings and stuff", should have known his words would have been twisted by media.

I also think Jensen, being an investigator, should know that FB is one of many communication tools and is not the full picture of this family's activities.

I also think Jensen, being an investigator should know that being relegated to sitting waiting for LE to call might make it possible to use FB to connect to their support system.

I also think that Jenson just made a case for victim's families needing to sit in their house and wait for LE to call and not be running around holding pressers and manning search teams.

Frankly, when I saw this video, with all the inserts of other "families of the missing and how they behaved", it made my skin crawl. There's nothing worse than media working overtime to bait a victim's family into talking to them.

Other thought: If they keep this up I'm going to have to have a cold shower twice a day. :angel:

I'm re-posting this article. Let's get back to having some constructive discussion and sleuthing about Kyron's case.

Who do you think left? The teacher or the subsitute?

Now that I re-read it - it does look like the sub left. Why would a sub be taking attendance? Why wouldn't the regular classroom teacher do it?

Wonder how many "subs" they hired for that day. Very busy, very hectic day - need more "hands" - especially since the science fair AND talent show were both going on.

It is bothering me that during the PC's LE isn't talking about the exposure risk to little Kyron - if he is out in the elements, lost and wandering. They are mounting a HUGE SAR today but no talk about him being "out there".

:twocentso we have a family and friends support thred for Kyron? :waitasec: I don't know if that is possiable or not but seems like when we are talking about a case there is much to discuss that could feel sensitive. I mean the whole thing is sensitive.

I am scared to post anything any more because I am afraid that someone will think, feel or take what I am saying the wrong way. I understand that some topics that are out there are difficult. There isn't a happy or unsensitive story when a child is missing..unless they come home safe!


I have not seen anyone saying anything terriable about anyone and if it happened I feel confident the mods take it off, let the poster know, make an announcement or issue TO's. :twocents:

I'm thinking that the "substitute" or teacher assistant maybe (?) was there to help supervise/chaperone a group of kids during the science fair. And if that's the case, he/she left when the children returned to their classrooms to start their school day. Hope that made sense? I was thinking that with the kids being taken to exhibits throughout the school, they asked for volunteers or staffed a bit more than usual to help with the groups of children.

On another note, I thought about Kyron's friend saying Kyron was going to see a "cool" electric (?) project that morning. If that happened, how would Kyron know it was "cool" unless someone told him it was and where it was? KWIM?

I think it was likely that the substitute was acting as a chaperone for one of the groups too.

I had thought about that 'cool' descriptor for the electricity project too. Unless Kyron had only had a glimpse of it earlier and wanted to check it out some more, then I think it would be likely also that someone described it to him as 'cool'.

A public school had a wine tasting fundraiser? Dear God. Your tax dollars at work.

Here we have various fund raisers for different events at schools mostly for equipment - field trips etc.... One very lucrative fundraiser is beer and burger nights - held at a pub. No school funds or tax money is ever used. All volunteer work and donations. Lots of fun for everyone. I do hope that Kyron is found unharmed. Really feel for his family.

Just catching up today; there's something else weird for y'alls attention... The Oregonian has not run ONE letter to the editor on this topic.
This is beyond strange for this community and this paper. I don't believe no one has written in. I believe the paper is holding back letters. Why? They have printed several on much less pressing topics, over the past 5 days.

Someone who is IN NO WAY ASSOCIATRED WITH THIS CASE finds it unusual. We have been warned repeatedly. I do not want this thread locked - I want to discuss Kryon. Not some former LE officer who is in no way related to this case, this search, and quite frankly, I find it tacky that this former LE person is running around giving interviews about a case he is not on. I find it tacky and suspect his motives in doing so.

Well, I had to go out for a couple of hours, but I'm still seething over what that kid's grandmother did.

If it turns out she compromised this investigation/search, she's going to have that on her head---and frankly I don't care about how she'll have to deal with that. But to put her grandson in that position? That's something he'll have to live with the rest of his life. He's just a little kid, he couldn't have possibly known what impact talking to the media could have on this case. But this idiot grandmother did... and chose to ignore what the professionals instructed. And the reporter???? Completely irresponsible. As soon as he heard the FBI told them not to speak out, he should have given up his chance for a *scoop* and pretended he never even spoke to them.

I assume that is addressed to me since I made that post? What matters to some doesn't matter to others and that's cool. I'm not willing to write of and ignore the opinion of a 20 year veteran of PPD.

we shall agree to disagree. I find his actions suspect. he finds their actins suspect. So be it.

I am taking a self enforced time out for a bit. I get that we see awful things all the time on this site. I get that in many cases a loved on can be a perp. I understand the urge to sleuth those close to a victim is compelling. However, I simply choose not to start immediately playing the blame game before the facts are in.

Well it says she was taking a head count, which makes me think she was accounting for kids in the groups, versus taking the normal class attendance. IDK.

EXCELLENT OBSERVATION.
This is unusual. Editors sometimes agree to hold letters or information in unusual circumstances. Although they have the right to publish, in circumstances such as Kyron's, editors often cooperate with LE.

I think everyone here is concerned for the safe return of Kyron.

If this is an open discussion though, we all have the right to look at evidence and make comments about it.

Parents getting into a car ignoring questions about their missing son is not normal -- I'm sorry. People can say what they want about the police telling them to be quiet and live their lives like normal. Doing it is another matter though.

In my experience seeing cases like this, it's hard to "fake emotion" when you already know the outcome.

But Gates denied at a press conference that the police told the family not to talk to the press. He said it was the family's choice not to make a statement yet and that they would make a statement when they felt "ready."

I can't see Gates hanging them out to dry like that unless it's true. He probably should have just said "no comment" to that question when the reporter asked why the family hadn't spoken.

That's what I'm thinking. Someone could have leaned over to him while he was walking by in the small group (not that I'm positive he ever was in one of the small groups) and lured him to this "cool" exhibit in a utility closet or something.
