Hello Cory, and all my strongest thoughts and prayers too. I'm a long time poster on WS but just found this thread. I've lived in Oregon for 17 years and remember Leah's case well. Our family has also been impacted by crime but by the grace of God, our children came out alive.
I just read through the entire thread and want to point out a few things and then I'll just go back over to the "Crimes in the News" section.
I've been working for a year with an author in Kansas who is writing a book about the disappearance of a 17 year old boy in 1988--Randy Leach. Many many issues that have come up with the mysteries surrounding Leah's death are similar to the mysteries surrounding Randy's disappearance. The Leaches have been waiting 22 years for word of their son. Here's a link to a website concerning his case if you are interested:
http://www.randyleach.com/
There are also FB and MS pages as well as a play written and presented. The road is long and winding and convoluted but LE and all concerned are pretty certain that some sort of occult or satanic event took place and Randy died. No one is telling where his body is. Stacks of documents have been dropped off anonymously at the Leach home and their have been multiple murders and suicides since 1988. Helpful people have stepped forward, only to change their names and disappear. Some LEOs have turned their backs and others have helped, only to find themselves out of a job. It's a curious case.
While researching Randy's case, I became aware of satanic practices in a way I'd never quite understood before. I have a tendency now to start threads on stories which I believe might have a satanic element to them. I personally am Christian but just feel that we cannot turn our back on any possible motive, no matter how depraved. I've researched all I can and have tried very very hard to maintain a reasonable, level-headed approach.
I fully understand that there is a real Church of Satan and serious practitioners and that there are also "dabblers". Crime is crime, however, no matter who commits it.
I became aware of the fact that there are certain satanic ritual high days and started looking at mysterious disappearances and deaths in a new light. For instance, we have a thread on a Zachary Irwin of Illinois, who was raped, shot to death, dismembered and burned in East St. Louis this June, on June 21-22. We also have Heather Thompson, a psychic and "reader" from a small town outside Roseburg, OR who was found dead this August 3rd. Roseburg LE has also not released an autopsy report nor a cause of death in that case--only that she died of homicide. For some reason she was afraid to stay alone that night. I've wondered if it was because she happened to be Wiccan (a peaceful path) but also knew about the dates. Some of the Pagan/Wiccan high days and festivals cross over with Christian high days and also with Satanic dates.
Heather has a memorial page and a woman posted that she believed that something about the word Coquille might pertain to Heather's death. That's what led me here. I'm really not a believer in the "sight" but just thought that I'd check to see if these factors have been thoroughly checked out. I'd completely forgotten that Leah was murdered in Coquille.
There are many many sites on the internet and in books which outline the satanic high days. I simply report what I find. The rituals required are usually quite specific and when cases such as this are uncovered, LE is often hesitant to release details due to "hysteria". I personally believe that the motives are minimized to prevent copy-cat crimes.
I've learned to depend on other countries to not be so hesitant to confront the obvious. We've had many cases come in from South America, Africa, Austria, and throughout Russia. For some reason the police and the citizens are more prepared to consider these possibilities, awful as they are.
I want to leave you with a few links to peruse as you have time. I have no idea if you will find anything which might be of importance but I wanted you to check for yourself.

The story of the death of Elyse Pahler of CA (known to be linked to a satanic ritual), I believe we discuss this case in the next thread linked:

Here's the satanic ritual dates that I was referring to which might be of concern for Leah and Heather. Please remember that some dates are also peacefully celebrated by other faiths. It is only the satanists which seem to be interested in murder:
Jul. 20 ~ GRAND CLIMAX (thru Jul. 27) ~ date varies annually ~ 5 weeks, 1 day after Summer Solstice
[My note: the Summer Solstice for 2000 was on June 21st which means that the Grand Climax, the abduction and holding of the victim, could start anytime between July 20-July 27, 2000]
Sexual and Blood Rituals
Abduction, ceremonial preparation & holding of sacrificial victim for Lammas Day
Oral, anal, and vaginal, and human sacrifice
Aug. 1 ~ LAMMAS DAY
(Blood Ritual)
Animal and/or human sacrifice
Aug. 3 ~ SATANIC REVELS
(Sexual Ritual)
Oral, anal, and vaginal
My intent is not to bring you any grief, Cory, but to try to shed as much light as possible on the loss of your sweet girl. Every scenario must be examined. I've come to believe that there is evil in this world (as you well know) and we simply cannot turn away. I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have. Please remember, though, that when the mention of satanism is brought up, it has a tendency to "clear the room". I've not enjoyed being the one holding the flashlight but someone has to do it.
My prayers are with you.
