GUILTY OR - Matthew Hyrup for beating, raping 1yo boy, Medford, 2012

  • #21
Oh too I wonder as well if age has anything to do with the victim becoming the perp? Also same sex victimization?

Hyrup was molested between ages 12-16. That's a really important few years in a young man's life. The conflict had to be unbearable. I am in no way excusing him or reasoning. He hurt this baby in the most horrific way possible. Just wondering is all.

One of Zeman's victims who allowed his name to be used was attacked from ages 8-12. He said at age 12 he punched Zeman in the face for the first time when he approached him in the shower. The poor guy said and I quote "It was the toughest thing I ever had to do in my life".

Meanwhile looking at some of those sites Hyrup was visiting somebody somewhere should have saw a conflict. Big time. Not to mention that one tattoo he has was in direct conflict to the tastes he had in intimate parts of his life. I'm no Psychologist, but basically the guy was screaming for help and a poor, innocent baby almost lost his life because nobody heard it.

You nailed it, Filly. You always do.

You nailed it, Filly. You always do.

Ya think? Well, thank you dear one.

It's really sad this whole crime in so many ways.

Also have to wonder if that Zeman turned them onto meth in the first place.

How many cases do we see where once a victim does come forward they're addicts, and or alcoholics so they're not deemed believable. That makes me bonkers. I feel like screaming "Maybe that's why they're an addict/alcoholic." Try and blur them awful memories you're bound to shoot something up or drink gallons of something. Then again that is not all victims/survivors, but it's seriously common.

The biological father is fighting for custody.

Kevin Brewer deals with the horror
of knowing his son was viciously beaten and molested by picking up paintbrushes and creating signs calling for child abuse awareness.

-----------

C**** has been placed in the care of his maternal grandparents.
Brewer, who has been estranged from C**** and his ex-wife for a year, said he hopes to gain custody of his son in the near future.

----------

Brewer has organized a Facebook page
dedicated to C**** and raising awareness about child abuse.
Close to 1,000 people have subscribed to the page titled "Pray for C*****."

-----------

Brewer said the fact that Hyrup was molested as a child does not excuse his actions, if in fact the charges are proven in court.

Brewer said several people on the Facebook page have written threatening messages toward Hyrup.
He deletes these messages as they appear.

"I read people who say that (Hyrup) should be raped or killed," Brewer said.
"I say let God and the courts do their job. I don't think being a vigilante will solve anything."

It appears there is a hearing in the case tomorrow morning.

C**** finally passed his hearing test and is running around playing, smiling and laughing.

Apparently CPS doesn't agree with C*****'s father going public with this. (I don't know why they aren't happy about it.)

C*****'s father saw pictures of his son's injuries.

In my experience, Judge Meija is tremendously fair but very tough.

Child-beating suspect faces new charge
April 18, 2012

"An attempted murder charge has been added against a Medford man accused of brutally beating his toddler stepson. A grand jury on Thursday handed down the attempted murder charge and a second first-degree sodomy charge, against Matthew Karl Hyrup, 27. Hyrup in March pleaded not guilty before Judge Tim Barnack in Jackson County Circuit Court to three Measure 11 charges — first-degree assault, first-degree unlawful sexual penetration and first-degree sodomy. Hyrup's case has been reassigned to Judge Lorenzo Mejia. Mejia denied defense attorney Jeremy Rosa's attempt to get Hyrup released on bail. He is being held in the Jackson County Jail...."

Paternal Uncle and family friend were in court:

The defense attorney said he may ask the judge for more time to look over the indictment, but a pre-trial date is set for April 23.

However, attorneys say they will likely agree on a trial date beforehand, saying it could begin in 60 days.

He was in the hospital for about a month and is now home recovering.
His biological father Kevin Brewer has not seen his son since last year, but says he hears the boy is doing well.

I appreciate the awareness Kevin (the dad) is bringing now but why wasn't he around for the past year? There is a restraining order against him...that's why. I'd be very cautious before placing this young boy back with his dad. He's been through enough!

Also wondering where the mom has been during all of this. She hasn't said a word & her parents now have her son. My new husband brutally assaults my toddler & I'm silent? Hmmm. There must be more to this than the press is sharing...

Seems to me like neither parent was completely watching out for this little guy. Such a shame! I'm just hoping that he's too young to recall what took place once he gets older.

October 2014:

A Medford man accused of physically and sexually assaulting his 18-month-old stepson was sentenced to 25 years in prison after admitting that prosecutors had enough evidence to convict him.
Matthew Karl Hyrup, 29, pleaded no contest to first-degree assault and first-degree unlawful sexual penetration...

The child, who still has lasting damage from the traumatic brain injury, has been adopted by members of his extended family.
