Sheriff: Skeletal remains found near Molalla identified as California man who was reported missing in 1979

Identified!

Following an investigation, the sheriff's office said the remains were identified as Kenneth Lee Bell, born 1957, formerly of Contra Costa County, California.

The sheriff's office said Bell was identified from personal effects found with the body. DNA confirmation is currently underway.

According to the sheriff's office, Bell's mother, who is now deceased, reported him missing in 1979, when he was 22 years old. He appears to have disappeared while traveling from the Bay Area to Washington to visit family.

Bell worked in the timber industry in the late 70s, and frequented the Portland area in that time period, according to the sheriff's office.

If the stuff found nearby was his, he apparently was some sort of biker or into biker fashion. Harley Davidson pins and chains from a biker jacket. But whats the deal with the appaling Nazi (NSDAP...) pin? Are bikers usually connected to the Neo Nazi scene? Dont think so.

This is one such neo-nazi motorcycle gang that would have been up-and-coming in California around the time he went missing. Nazi Lowriders - Wikipedia

Without getting into a huge bike gang history spiral, there is a whole sub-category of "outlaw motorcycle clubs" that engage in criminal activities and organized crime, which have historically been white and their clubs typically exclusively male and racially homogeneous.

Here are two more "outlaw motorcycle clubs" that could also fit the bill.
Free Souls Motorcycle Club - Wikipedia
Brother Speed - Wikipedia

Law enforcement has also created their own white supremacist motorcycle gang to carry out surveillance and stings on other white supremacist motorcycle gangs. This is so surreal, I can't make it up! Aryan Nations Motorcycle Riders Division - Wikipedia

It would be interesting to know KB's social history. Who he hung out with, what MCs he may have been affiliated with, what kinda things he liked doing while traveling from CA to WA. That sure is a long ride if its on a motorcycle!! MOO.

Interesting coincidence that Kenneth worked in timber industry and 42 years later he is found by timber crew.

In 1979, a 22-year-old set out on a road trip to visit family two states away.

Kenneth Lee Bell was traveling from California’s Bay Area to Washington when he vanished, officials said.

“If you knew Kenneth Lee Bell in the late 1970s, detectives would like to hear from you,” the sheriff’s office said. “You can contact the Sheriff’s Office Tip Line by phone at 503-723-4949 or by using the online email form at Tip Sheet | Clackamas County.”

It is possible the pin belongs to someone who killed Kenneth. Pins easily fall of jackets and so on, and I could see this especially so in a wooded/overgrown area. Easy to bump, dislodge something like that, and I would think if you're disposing of a body, you probably wouldn't notice your pin fell off.
