Authorities did not say how the 37-year-old mother or her children, aged 2, 5 and 7, died. The sheriff’s office says detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit are assisting the investigation. There is no danger to the public, authorities say.
No danger to the public only seems to suggest one thing.

If it was something like CO poisoning, I don't think the violent crimes unit would be involved.

Sleep well, little ones.

Deputies responded to a home in Cornelius, about 25 miles outside of Portland, around 3 p.m. Tuesday after a 911 caller reported finding four people dead, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office-Cornelius Police.

In a building attached to the home, officers discovered the bodies of 37-year-old Hong Phuong Le and her three children: 2-year-old-daughter Viena Mai Dam, 5-year-old-daughter Ha Ngan Dam and 7-year-old-son Thanh Tien Dam, authorities said.

Dispatch records indicate a man called emergency responders and said the mother and three children had been found with ropes around their necks. The person who called reported he was cutting them down.

“We’re definitely going to need detectives to head out here,” a person said on the dispatch record. “If we can get a couple more units please, that’d be great. We’re going to need to lock this whole residence.”

When I first read that the mother and 3 children all had ropes around their necks I had wondered if it was murder/suicide. But after seeing LE comment that "no arrests have been made" makes me think it's likely the father, or some other family member that did it to them. Otherwise why even bring it up or word it that way? Just "an isolated incident" would suffice if they suspected it was murder/suicide.

Due to that I suspect we may end up hearing about an arrest. All JMO

No arrests have been made, sheriff’s office spokesperson Deputy David Huey told reporters.

There are 2 videos in the link below. The first talks with neighbors. The news reporter at 2nd video they believe it happened either in the home or in the vicinity. Someone was either walked into the house, or came around the property when they made that discovery. Since it's been said upthread that the 911 caller was cutting them down after finding them hanging from ropes, that leads me to think that it happened outside.

There are a lot of big trees in that area, and in the yard. In fact, the one in the yard near the fence has a horizontal branch that looks reachable IMO.

Here's another look at the yard and that branch.

This makes me wonder what relation the person finding the bodies had with the family since they were in a building attached to the home. Why would a stranger or neighbor walking a dog go onto someone's property and look inside a building attached to the home. Unless they were doing a welfare check when calls/texts went unanswered or something. Or the kids didn't show up for school with no notice they'd be out for awhile, which sounded the alarm.

And there's an ongoing investigation as well, with no new details.

Sheriff’s office spokesperson Deputy David Huey told KATU the bodies were found in a building attached to the home.

I'm curious how the fire started. Could whoever killed them started a fire or was it purely accidental?

According to Dennis [neighbor], a fire broke out at the victims’ home a couple of months ago, which cut off their electricity.

And while the linked MSM no longer says what I'm about to post... I read it for myself yesterday. It appears they edited their article but didn't tell Google, which still shows most of the info in Search results.

A fire broke out at the home several months ago, temporarily displacing the family, he said. They returned recently despite lacking working ...

To show I'm not making that up. (Google result leading to the link above)

That's a garage, I expect. With a pitched roof like that, it likely has exposed beams.

I don't think it's a garage IMO. I'm not seeing garages at a few other houses I "drove" past with Google, plus the yard is completely fenced off with no driveway. I'm more apt to think that's where they were found. It just doesn't look like it's attached to me.

Maybe a large workshed or separate room, then? What my grandma would have called a studio.

Here's another view of the other side of the house that can't be seen "driving" with Google maps as the car doing the videoing didn't go all the way down due to it being a dead end. But I found this.'

And I think it's the building in the back on the left side upthread. I don't think it was attached as I've seen said in MSM (they don't always get it right). The gal in the video below said they were found in the shed behind the house. I'm pretty sure that's the building out back we've seen.

And I also learned that the building next to the house (other side of the fence) is the school the kids went to. :( Those poor kids that go to that school that knew them. :( It's got to be hard to be able to see the house your friends or classmates were murdered from the schoolyard. Just ugh.

Still no word about the father. Did he live there too? Did he not? In the video above they kept mentioning "the family". Unsure if that means the 4 of them, or 5.

I suspect that no arrests have been made, because there's nobody alive to arrest.

We'll find out in time.
Could be. Or there is, and as I'm sure everyone knows, these things take time.

I've been wondering why someone would go onto their property, and go inside a building on the property (trespassing), which is how they found the bodies. It was a school day and the school 2 of them attended was next door. Perhaps someone at the school found it odd none of the 3 children attended school that day, with no FYI from the mother that they wouldn't. They in turn decided to go check up on the family. But, you'd think they'd simply call the police for a wellness check.

Also, I'm guessing this person either had a knife with them (so likely a male), or that there was one inside the room they were found hanging in (mentioned several times upthread), as it was mentioned they found and cut down the bodies. It would probably have been better had they simply not entered the room, or hurried out, and left them for LE to see. DNA on the rope kinda thing. Cutting them down at that point isn't going to bring them back.

Hong Phuong Le, 37; her son, Thanh Tien Dam, 7; and her daughters, Ha Ngan Dam, 5, and Viena Mai Dam, 2, were found dead at a home in Cornelius, about 26 miles west of Portland around 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. Sheriff’s office spokesperson Deputy David Huey told KATU the bodies were found in a building attached to the home.

"It was a call by somebody who came by the residence and found the bodies,"

Well, I think I got an answer to how the house fire was started a month of so before they were found hung. What's this tell ya? I was suspicious of that fire before I even saw this.

the city of Cornelius denied a public records request from The Oregonian/OregonLive for information about a January fire at the North 15th Avenue home. City officials cited “investigatory information compiled for criminal law purposes” as the reason for the denial.

Is this a normal thing? Only going back the last 12 months when there's an inquiry from MSM? I immediately think... well, what about longer ago than a year?

[the 3 kids] had not been the subjects of any child protective services reports or assessments within at least the past 12 months.
