Finley Creek Doe is believed to be a specific young missing woman. I can't find her name now but when I find it I will post it here when I do.

Many people, including her daughter, think Finley Creek Jane Doe is Patricia "Patty" Otto.

Thank you @SimsGuy67 for pulling up that info. I completely couldn't remember her name.

There is conflicting information from family members posted online. It seems there is a lot of hurt, understandably, and a divide.

<modsnip - no link to approved source to statement made as fact>

1) If it was unknown who her father was, where did the idea of going to California come from?

2) What date was the alleged call from California Police received? Where in California did they call from? Is this something police were even known to do?

3) What of her personal belongings were missing?

4) Who were her friends / boyfriends at the time?

5) Did she have a job? What school did she attend?

6) Had she left home before?

<modsnip - no link to approved source to statement made as fact>

Thank you to anyone who has any answers or input, and my thoughts are with her family as they continue their search. I am near enough to Portland to go if anyone wants info/photos/etc of the area.

This case has bugged me since the minute I heard about it. Not only was she from my hometown of Oregon City they are just so many bizarre facts of the case. Like what police department called the mother to ask if Pam had permission to be in California? And why was she not reported missing for all these years?

In Oregon, same county, partial remains, no PMI. Age in Namus is listed as 10-14, adolescent; Pem's age is certainly within reasonable range difference.

Yeah, I had a feeling this might happen. I won't post the info again, but Pem can still be ruled out as the Valenica Doe. She's now on the exclusion list on NamUs.

I’m not experienced in matching Does and missing people so take this with a big grain of salt… but any thoughts? I’ve read through the thread and I didn’t see this Doe mentioned but I might’ve missed it (if so please accept my apologies).

Estimated age is a little older than Pem (18-27) but height, hair colour and PMI match up.

I am not the best either, but I do see the resemblance. I think you should submit it. I am a bit taken back by the UID’s 3.5 size shoe. I am wondering if It’s a men’s size 3.5 which would be a woman’s size 5.

Bumping for Pem. She reminds me of Donna Marie Larrabee, who also left her home state (in her case SD) in the 70s to try to visit/find her father in California. And then there's Daphne Collier, who was murdered while trying to hitchhike from CA to OR to visit her mother in 1977. Daphne's murder is still unsolved, and Donna and Pem are still missing. My heart breaks for all of them. They were all just searching for their parents.

These are all excellent questions! If the story that she travelled to CA to find (visit?) her father was true, then she might still be alive somewhere. I guess LE could shed a lot of light in this case if a genuine effort had been made to trace her father...it sounds like she was picked up by LE in CA in the late 70ies?! If that was actually true, then there must be more information on her whereabouts out there.

Hi All,

I am relatively new to posting on the forum, so apologies in advance if this post isn't in line with any rules... but I was wondering if this individual has been considered in connection to Pem?

She was found just weeks after Pem is said to have gone missing, in northern California. Many of the physical details seem to match... though the body seems to be in a fairly advanced state of decomposition when found. Still, it would have potentially made sense for Pem to be hitch hiking, given what I know about the case, and it may be worth looking into further...

Welcome @sleuthrabbit if you sign up for a Namus account (Home) you can log into Pem's missing persons record, and also into the record for the unidentified remains. In many instances you will be able to see which unidentified remains have been checked (and ruled out) against the missing person. You can also check which missing people have been ruled out against different UID (unidentified deceased). It's important to check both records since they are often maintained by investigators or coroners in different jurisdictions, some are better at entering data than others..

When you know the Namus number you can then search here for a thread. In this case the UID's Namus number is UP17490 and by searching you find her thread here CA - CA - Sonoma Co., WhtFem, ~19, red hair, contact lenses, hog-tied, Jul'79

You can then search within the thread to see who has been suggested/ruled out. As a new person I recommend you read any threads from start to finish so you don't duplicate work that someone has already done.
