Denise Farnham-McGunnigle knows that her son, Sean Kosky, is dead... "We were very close. He'd have never left me," she said.

But while law enforcement officers, search and rescue specialists, family members and friends have searched exhaustively, no sign of the 24-year-old McMinnville native has ever been found...

Their next step is hiring a private detective, whom they believe may be able to dig into leads that haven't yet been explored.

New evidence gives hope to family of missing man in 2012 case

Then, this past April, the first real piece of evidence was found. Sean's sandals were discovered by an adjoining property owner while hunting. It was at the edge of a ravine, less than a mile from the house. The Yamhill County Sheriff's Office says it was 100 yards outside of all the search perimeters.

The family has now hired private investigator Ray Marcom to help.

"People I have talked to have all said he was not suicidal, but he did feel as though he was a burden to people," said Marcom. "As I understand it, he wanted to stay there, he wanted to live up there with his cousin, but that wasn't going to be possible and he knew that the night that he disappeared, he was told that."

Peter Sean Kosky The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)

Circumstances of Disappearance Peter Kosky was last seen leaving a home in the 15500 block of Northwest Orchard View Road at about 10:15pm. Searches were conducted in the 130-acre wooded area that surrounded the home but Peter has not been located.
