A fb group was created for him: Richard Ritz Missing from Portland. The admins are his daughter and granddaughter. Their posts:
admin MR
admin TS

According to the admins, he had some cash on him and a bank card that shows no activity. His cell phone is off. There have been private searches for him starting at Delta Park. They also had a scuba diver clear the boat ramp at Cathedral Park.

It's been almost 5 months since Richard disappeared. :( There still aren't any official updates. I looked for a podcast of some sort but I didn't have any luck. Perhaps a MSM blitz would lead to tips so his family can get some answers. According to the Richard Ritz Missing from Portland FB page, they're having a hard time getting Portland PD to investigate so they're in the process of trying to hire a PI. They have started a petition and a fundraising effort. I hope all this works out for them so they can get answers soon.

I'd like to know why LE hasn't gotten a warrant to ping his phone if he's considered endangered. Also, I'm confused as to when he was last seen (see OP below).

Family: Portland man missing since September found in sunken SUV | KOIN.com

A volunteer team that specializes in finding lost cars underwater believes they found an SUV belonging to a missing North Portland man. Divers later recovered a body from inside the vehicle.

Ritz’s family enlisted a volunteer underwater search team — Adventures with Purpose — to search the Willamette River near the Cathedral Park boat ramp on Thursday.

“Once our sonar boat was in the water, we identified the vehicle within 10 minutes,” said Doug Bishop with Adventures with Purpose. Bishop says the team used sonar, down imaging, side scanning and live imaging to create an “all-around feed” of the submerged SUV. Bishop said the vehicle was 25 feet below the surface on its top with the windows still intact.

I watched the two videos Adventures with Purpose uploaded on their YouTube channel.

One of them included footage AFTER they had already launched into the river at Cathedral Park and discovered his vehicle. Local LE were on scene diving to recover the body (of course, out of respect, this part wasn’t shown)

On this particular video they explained how sonar picked up not only Richard’s SUV within minutes, but also picked up on 3 additional vehicles in that area of the river!

AWP guys also stated that a letter sent by a loved one of Richard (subject: Richard describing his final “fishing trip”) was one of the reasons that lead them to search this specific river.

The other video included footage of officials recovering Richard’s SUV from the river just feet from the public boat ramp.

God Bless these AWP guys who use their knowledge and expertise to help the many families out there find their loved ones who sadly may be underwater. Every video I’ve watched of theirs, I’ve seen nothing but professional & respectful guys. ❤️
