A body was found in a water-filled ditch in south Salem on Wednesday, police said.

He said the body was so badly decomposed that it was unclear what the gender was. An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday.

The body had been in the ditch “for a while,” Kohlmeyer said, but he didn’t elaborate on the time length.
