I think LE refused to confirm or deny it, didn't they? Which makes me think it's probably true. Otherwise, why not say straight out they weren't looking there?

If they do have some reason to believe Stephanie might be in the water, I hope they have the resources to carry out more searches, with a water scent dog, and dive teams. And sonar, if possible. It can be so hard to find people in water that a single search is rarely enough. It seems a two or three pronged approach works best, from what I've read. But that costs money, and time. Unless volunteers can be found, but they won't work without the permission of LE and/or family.

I have found one verifiable case for a water scent dog locating someone who had been in water for a long period ( eight weeks, in that case). Nothing longer though, although there are plenty of articles saying they can do so - but no examples of real cases are given.

The Netherlands is a very good place for finding info about water scent dogs, if anyone can read Dutch. Up to half their missing people who are located deceased, are found drowned. Being below sea level, there's an awful lot of water there.

I really want our forum back!! In my very best middle aged cheerleader voice: GO, WS! GO, WS!

Don't panic. You'll scare the guests. :)

I'm not pannicking. Also, I have TOTAL respect for this site/forum---- I completely understand why our thread was pulled. At the same time, I am screaming "B888s***!!!!" so loudly, y'all can probably here me!!!
I think the reason LE did not confirm or deny is because the claim is a straight out poppycock diversion. If I am wrong, well then I will be wrong. Still, I smell something and it aint brownies.

I have been reading this thread since WS made it a spotlight case. I was a WS memeber before and lost all my info and since coming back it seems a lot has changed, can you explain what caused her thread to be pulled? I was getting excited by what was happening

It is my understanding that the thread has been temporarily pulled for legal review. This thread is has been opened, in the interim, to discuss ONLY the supposed search of Applegate Lake.

Thanks for the information and sorry for the disruption

Thanks for clarifying, Lilibet.

Given the state of journalism today, I'm not sure we can count on the initial news report being fact-checked with the JCSO before it was broadcast. But one would assume that if a tip regarding a search on the lake was called in to MSM that someone would have confirmed with LE that a search had taken place. Anything beyond that is pure speculation I suppose.

Sort of odd that a remote lake like Applegate would have had any witnesses around at all to see this "search".

Maybe someone already answered this, but JCSO had not confirmed the search, which is why some of us are wondering if it's true. It surprises me that KOBI and KMED would report this story without LE confirmation. Slow news day?

But if it is true, someone witnessing wouldn't be odd. If someone who lives along Upper Applegate Rd saw the sheriffs go by with boats, they might have gone out to the lake to see what was going on. Or someone could have been fishing and seen the search. I doubt the sheriff would tell anyone out there who they were searching for, so I'm assuming that whoever called in the report is a local who figured it might be Stephanie. They were very specific about the the fact that there were at least two boats and a jet boat (did they mean jet ski?). There is a 10mph speed limit on the lake IIRC, so that seems odd to me.

You're not being disruptive, lots2learn. It is lovely that you are here, taking an interest in Stephanie's case. The more posts we have, the more her name will come up in online searches and people will get to hear about her case, and want to help find her.

Publicity to get people searching for Stephanie and maybe coming forward with info is what's so desperately needed now.

WELCOME!! :seeya: I'm glad you found your way over to the new thread. I'm sure we'll get our regular thread back soon.

In case you missed it, there was the possible sighting in Longview. La Louve took fliers up there on Friday to logical places, but didn't spot Stephanie.

Friday evening, the report about the lake search was posted and we were discussing that.

But something else happened Friday off the thread that made it advisable for admin to review the thread, so it was removed temporarily. I think you're up to speed now. :)

Glad to have the update on why the thread was pulled for review. I've been following the case since day 1, but haven't posted much - you guys are doing a great job. I just hope and pray that Stephanie is found and justice is brought against those who have had a hand in her disappearance.

Thank you all so much!
It seems odd that no one has confirmed the search. Has anyone emailed the news channel to see if they plan on a follow up story on the search?

That has crossed my mind and I've done that in the past. I would prefer not to be the one to do it this time though. Reporters understandably go for any story they can, and have asked to interview me. I value my privacy too much to let them make me the story. :hand: I really wish they would follow up on things without being prodded, but if anyone wants to shoot off an email to KOBI, go for it.

Thanks so much for this comment! It really helps to know WSers are following this case. :tyou:

That's been done. Bill Meyers has also been 'corrected".

If anyone wants to discuss anything NOT related to the lake but related to Stephanie... There is now a google group: https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!forum/stephanie-warner--missing-person

I recollect reading something somewhere by a person who seemed to know a bit about these things called helias314. Seemed to think there might be security issues or something, if a person prefers to remain anonymous or not easily trackable, online.

ETA: Not that it matters. There are courageous people doing everything to find lovely Stephanie Warner. She can't just be abandoned out there in Oregon. It's not right.
