This was a good piece of news video to revisit, from three weeks ago:

https://www.myworldnews.com/Channel...ells-latest-in-search-for-missing-local-woman

Considering that Det. Henderson states that "new searches" will be conducted in the "near future", I feel a bit more confident that the lake search last week was legit. I'm sure making the arrangements for the proper search equipment and personnel would take a bit of time.

At the same time though, it makes me feel rather unsettled about the Longview connection..

Actually, this news story is from 9/15, almost two months ago. It was first posted on the first thread around post #738. Henderson may well have been referring to a search of the lake though.

I believe the last story we've had about Stephanie on local news was around 10/10. Time for an update!

The Longview sightings may be similar to the sightings of the McStay family, missing from near San Diego since February 4, 2010. Dead ends. But at least people are paying attention.

Interesting. I was going by the URL info at the top of my browser, which showed "10/19/13". You know the details far better than I, Lilibet, so I appreciate the correction.

Yeah, I was wondering about the "yellow journalism" one. :floorlaugh:

That's really strange, unless it was added to the website you used on that date. I thought to myself "Only three weeks? Time can't be going that fast!" :) So I had to go back and look.

We're watching "60 Minutes" and there was an interesting story about the "Go Pro" camera. It can be worn or attached to things and used underwater. Scripps Oceanography Institute has attached it to an underwater torpedo to explore the ocean and has found submerged WWII planes. It costs under $400. Could JCSO (or someone) use it in Applegate Lake to search for Stephanie? I'm not sure if there is a way to see what you are filming in real time though.

I have a friend that scuba dives with one of those....Thet are great on land, too. I don't know about gopro or oregon but search and rescue here in NY always have cameras. I assume that was part of the search, if it happened.

Yes, I saw those. Puzzling. The two posters don't seem to be very close, or certainly not in a relationship.

maybe my brain is full? I don't ever recall seeing these comments before...they are undated: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCN7PqMNs18bhsHHq8nVmE_g/feed

I wonder if Sony/Columbia Pictures would be interested in knowing that a clip of their film The Patriot is being used, uncredited, with altered audio?

ETA, I believe Sony Pictures Entertainment General Counsel Leah Weil would be interested in this fact. Just need to find an email address for her.

ETA #2 I LOVE the internet! :D

ETA #3 added bolded, underlined text.

YouTube would like to know! they are pretty stringent when it comes to uncredited copywrited material.

Maybe any fees depend on how may views it's had too.

I believe only the copyright owner can request that YouTube remove the uncredited material.

I absolutely believe the source of this info, though I have no link; At least one person has been located in water after three months, by a scent dog. It was a smallish body of still water though - a pond. It seems the length of time after which a dog could detect someone depends so much on water and wind and temp conditions, it's just impossible to say in advance.

I am sure there are K9ers out there who would be willing to try, if police feel it's appropriate. Do we have any idea if police have done any follow up on the longview sighting? Although I fear there won't be a good outcome for Stephanie, I also think it is worth retaining an open mind and a little hope and taking any information from the public seriously.

I'm going to go back up to Longview this week.

When I went up there last Friday, I was not able to meet with the Longview Police officer whose contact info I was given. I would still like to do that and there are still some food banks and shelters I would like to visit.
