Gosh this is reminding me of another case. An IT professional with a missing wife. So many problems there with hacking etc, and a gang of supporters who really were not very nice. He called people searching for her internet predators.

It was surprising how rapidly the support faded once he was arrested for her murder, and quite ironic that part of the evidence came from...his computer.

Curious...What was this case? Is it on WS? I would like to review it.

My post no 55 at this link has a lot of media reports with lead-in sentences that will give you a quick idea of what happened there, although much could not be discussed.
NY - Jennifer Ramsaran, 36, Chenango County, 11 Dec 2012 *media maps & timelines* - Page 3 - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

The main thread is quiet now ( just waiting for the trial). Here is the case from the beginning; read between the lines, there was a lot going on off thread. Including with LE, actually. They were so quiet some of us thought the investigation had stalled. Including the suspect, I think. We were wrong, thank heavens.

I forgot to mention, the FB page in that case was hacked and taken down several times too. It's going strong now though, with a lovely, very determined bunch of supporters. The attacks attracted some very good people to the victim's side that she otherwise might never have had.

Somewhat O/T: Since it seems possibly a few members of this forum may have been affected, one last tidbit on the subject of hacking...This blog submission by Matt Cutts (Google software engineer) is very informative. Take note of the post hack info--It touches on "Forwarding Rules" which basically, if not corrected by the owner of the account, boil down to the hackers ability to fwd emails from that acct even after the owner has regained access to their acct and changed thier password. http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/recover-hacked-gmail-account/

Well, there just does not seem to be any new news about Stephanie. What on earth is that all about? Am I looking in the wrong places?

Women disappearing into thin air, a horrible little creepy person making bombs out of metal cans, and lurky persons hanging around in cafes, trying to hack ordinary citizens' gmail accounts.

Whatever is going on in Jackson County and Oregon? Somebody seems to be wanting to make life difficult for the people and stop them living their individual lives, free of worry. What an ugly thing to do to what looks such a beautiful place. Who would want to ruin it for everyone?

The best way to solve a series of problems is to start with a single one. Anyone with any information about Stephanie's disappearance should come forward now.

Call Jackson County Sheriff's Office on 541 774 8333

Email [email protected]

Or call the Ashland anonymous tipline (Ruch doesn't seem to have one)
http://www.ashland.or.us/Page.asp?NavID=15355

Or the Medford anonymous tipline for info about the bomb
http://www.ci.medford.or.us/Page.asp?NavID=1433

Or the FBI, of course.

The local news only reports on Stephanie when Detective Henderson has something to announce or when we email the local stations and ask them to do a story. The last time that happened was around October 10 IIRC. It seems strange to me that WSers have to be Stephanie's publicity agents. We have no standing with the press, but family does.

This is the London, Metropolitan Police website. I'm not suggesting anyone calls them from Oregon as they'll think it's crazy ( though I'm sure they'd pass the message on!). It does contain some very good advice about suspicions though, and clear explanations of how life-saving information can be, and why it is so right to provide it, if instincts are telling a person someone or something is wrong.

It's a problem because no matter where the investigation stands, I just don't think it will serve any benefit at all to have her case drop out of the spotlight. I would really like to see a good investigative journalist get their teeth into Stephanie's case.

No entries to MSM for a while now:(

Can anybody help me out with something puzzling me? Stephanie was with her former partner a long time I believe, and they were still together when he died, is that correct?

I and told they were not together romantically when he died. They had been broken up for some time ( I want to say a few years but I don't remember). They were still, however, great friends and when he became ill, I believe she helped care for him till the end.
I don't remember who told me this but it came up, I believe, in the first thread when I questioned why there was no mention of her in his obituary.

My understanding is that they had been together perhaps 15 years and she referred to him as her husband. I believe she cared for him through his illness. Whether they were still officially a couple at the end, I don't know. In the only notice of his death I was able to find, Stephanie was not mentioned. Perhaps someone who knows her can explain further.

ETA: He had filed a quitclaim deed giving her half interest in the house and land in 2005. His name is still on the property tax info.

Thanks guys. The lack of a mention in the obit was what I was trying to get to, in a roundabout way. I didn't want to seem tactless. It figures that Stephanie, no longer being a partner, wouldn't necessarily be listed as a family member left behind. Obituaries usually have a very traditional format like that.

Unfortunately, to quote myself on the first thread, Mike Wallace doesn't live here. I don't see any true investigative journalism happening here locally on any subject. If prodded regarding Stephanie, they will interview a few people, and speaking from experience, they will push to make a feel-good story out of the person who has emailed them. But nothing in depth. No mention of POI's radical videos and they DO know about them.

So I think it would have to be someone on a more national level. But please, not Nancy Grace!

It wasn't actually a formal obituary. It was a very nice article in the newsletter for the Oregon Country Fair, an arts and crafts and music, etc gathering (counterculture gone somewhat mainstream I think). He and his family were long-time participants, but I don't think it was written by his family. I've often wondered what her relationship with his family was like.

Lol, I've heard so much about NG I feel like I know her show, though I've never seen it!

Actually, I've started at Pulitzer prizewinners and am working my way through from that point. You never know. I certainly don't mean a campaign or anything like that, but if there is a journalist who I think might be interested in Stephanie's story there can't be any harm in sending them a few links.

Hopefully, investigators will be able to release a tiny bit of extra info soon that will produce some more media stories. It is very wonderful when there is a very dedicated, local journo onside though. Nothing can beat that, and they can make all the difference in the world.

I think there is bound to be a lull while there are explosions happening outside DAs offices though. We'll have to be a bit oatient and hooe it is the calm before the media storm.

Nothing heard from any of them since Stephanie went missing?

Thanks so much Zwiebel. That's a great idea. I'm sort of burned out on the local journalists. They keep wanting to interview me when I contact them. Noooooo! :-)

People either love Nancy Grace...or not. I'm obviously in the NOT category. :) I'm sure she's on YouTube if you want to sample her.
