Yes, Ames was named as the suspect in 2015. Up until then he had been a “person of interest.”

I don’t know if any other LE experts were brought in. I know that Stephanie’s close friend was NOT happy with the way the case was handled from the beginning by the local sheriff.

I got the impression that they didn’t want to prosecute a “no body” case. But they’ve said she was murdered for years so I’m not sure why they couldn’t use the evidence they have and prosecute Ames. That’s a trial I would love to attend!!

Could they have potentially had her age incorrect? I found an obituary for a Stephanie Anne Warner who is a little older that looks almost identical. As far as I can see, this person lived in CA at some point, then later moved to North Carolina. Her FB profile photo looks a lot like the photo of MP Stephanie with her sunglasses on.
