I was wondering the same. Look at his booking picture - he looks to be all sunburned. He loves to go camping.
Wonder if Terri either knows him or has communicated with her having a fixation on teaching.
This bond is so high that LE has to suspect this guy is into something more than possession of child
, such as manufacturing it also.I really should read further before commenting, but I have such a bad feeling about this guy.

Thanks for the link. I did look through all of hos friends as you most likely did also. I saw one friend with Kyron's pic as missing using a pic of Kyron as an avatar. That would not be unusual as they are both (along with many others) from Oregon.

My guess is that, as according to K2K's statement, Derlacki went the "extra mile" for kids. Great. That means that he probably had access to far more children than anyone can even calculate. In these days of budget cuts, if a nice guy steps in to say "hey, how can I help?", he'll be allowed to so others can get back to their work. When you are doing your practicum, you often visit at a number of schools to observe. I can see him helping Kinders and primary kids with the restroom (oh, I get sick there) and having lots of opportunities to be one on one.
I found his description on his blog about the little girl with hives to be odd. He acted as if he was flustered and didn't know what to do. First, a freshly trained teacher knows what to do. Secondly, I think he was trying to convince the decent people that he wanted to follow protocol. He makes special mention of how he approached her, etc. It seemed very "stilted" and odd to me.
A second grade teacher deals with bathroom accidents, runny noses, thumb-sucking, inappropriate touching, needs for cuddles and assurance. He's worked with 5-8 year olds. We're talking about little children!!

A comment here, hives do not typically just affect the cheeks. They would spread across the body. Children typically complain of itching on their trunk (tummy and back) and limbs.
It's strange because he promises to post photos of his camping trips and I see no photos. However, 2 people comment that it looks like he had fun. Possibly, he removed them. I also noted that he's taken SCUBA training. I would agree, he seems to enjoy the outdoors. A number of his relatives are also extremely active.

As K2K said, Mr. Derlacki has always seemed very anxious to help out. He seems to have been very involved with kids at every juncture of his life. Thank you for clarifying that term as I didn't know what it meant.

K2K--I'm sure my question won't surprise you. Do you have any reason to believe that Derlacki's arrest is in any way tied to the death of Sahara Dwight? Was this child a student at Fullerton IV or did she or her killer have a connection there?
Due to the fact that the father of Daniel Wallace is a fellow brother in arms through the military, I am not allowed to answer many questions in regards to Sahara Dwight. I can say that there is no connection to Mr. Derlacki what so ever.

Careful. A competent hacker can put just about anything on your computer, and a skilled burglar can do it without leaving an electronic trail. If we had laws that allowed instant firing of a teacher because child
was found on their computer, a lot of innocent teachers would be getting child put on their computers without their knowledge, by people who want them fired for some reason (like wanting their job).That said, they must have quite a bit more on this guy than just "found child
images on his home computer". You don't get $9.5 million bail for that, especially when you have no "priors".

That's true, didn't think of that. Ok, suspension until they are tried. I doubt anyone would do that to a teacher to get them to lose their job though.

Ok I have to say this. TH's parents live in Roseberg and she just moved back there. They are both teachers and so is she. Wonder if she knows this guy. He really gives me the creeps.
Astrella--I know, Roseburg is really getting the spotlight shined on them right now. It's normally a pretty quiet place. I'm sure they're not enjoying this kind of publicity. We talked about this upthread and I've seen no link between the two cases but you never know. The day Kyron disappeared Derlacki should have been teaching. Derlacki did reach out to other teachers but they seemed to be younger teachers. Derlacki primarily seemed to spend his time, prior to teaching, in the Eugene/Corvallis area--working with children, of course. That's where his family lives.
Kyron was a frequent camper, though, and Derlacki talks a lot about camping on his old blog. I'm not sure who he went with as I haven't seen any evidence that he lived with a partner. He's also had SCUBA training so maybe he has some buddies from that. His roommate moved out a while back to get married.
Just so everyone knows, Roseburg is in the very center of Oregon in the Umpqua Valley and is smack dab in the middle of camping/rafting/hiking country. It's really very beautiful and a hub of recreational activities. Healthy ones, that is. My adult kids are up there camping this weekend with my grandchildren.
