UPDATED (10/16/24) IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Regarding Tammy Pitkin's movement before disappearing.

OCTOBER 14TH, 2022:
Tammy was last seen by her son the night of October 14th, 2022. She told him she was going on a trip and would be back home by Monday.

OCTOBER 15th, 2022:
    • Purchased a pre-paid phone card in Red Bluff
    • Withdrew $1,000.00 cash from a bank account in her name that no one knew she had
    • Purchased Taco Bell in Weed, CA
    • Got gas in Glendale, OR
    • Purchased a pre-paid visa card in Sutherlin, OR for $300.00
    • Made a purchase at a convenience store in Glendale, OR

OCTOBER 16th, 2022:
    • Reserved a room at the Best Western in Sutherlin, OR with her husband's reward card but believed to have paid in cash

OCTOBER 17th, 2022:
    • Purchased Gas in Sutherlin, OR at 6:45am
    • Stopped at Rite-Aid in Albany, OR between 10:30 to 11; she purchased a cigarette lighter and let her dogs go potty. There is video footage from a business across the street from Rite-Aid that shows her with her dogs
    • It is believed that she drove from Rite-Aid to the place her car was later found by a hunter

OCTOBER 17th, 2022 to 29th, 2022:
    • Tammy has not been seen by family since October 14th, 2022 and was not reported missing until October 26th, 2022
    • Investigators believe Tammy's car was at the dead end forest service road the entire time from October 17th, 2022 to the 29th, 2022; they based this belief on the amount of gas remaining in her car
    • October 29th, 2022 a hunter reports an abandoned car on a dead end service road about 40 miles east of Sweet Home, OR
    • October 29th, 2022 to October 31st, 2022, investigators search her car and the area surrounding her car for 2 1/2 days with no sign of Tammy or her dogs

INFORMATION ABOUT THE CAR:
    • Mountain Patrol investigating her abandoned car, report that they believe her car was there at least 1 to 2 weeks before it was found because:
    • Dirt had no tracks and there had been snow a week prior which could have covered/removed the tracks
    • Rotors on her car showed rusting which indicated sitting in wet weather
Detectives find the following items in the car:
    • Her purse with ID, Passport, Social Security Card, & Birth Certificate
    • An overnight bag with toiletries and regular medication
    • A rusted and busted gun
    • Leashes for her dogs
    • 2 home depot moving boxes one with clothes the other with shoes
    • Extra Key Fob for the car in the trunk
Detectives believe that Tammy exited the car with her dogs and had the following items on her person:
    • Burner Phone
    • Pre-paid Visa Card & all her cash
    • Key Fob for car (she locked the car when she exited the car)
  • Investigators took DNA swabs from the driver side door and and steering wheel; prints could not be recovered from the car because of weather (DNA has not yet been processed by Linn County)
    • Investigators release the car to Tammy's son after completing their investigation of the car; he drives to the location it was abandoned and drives it back to CA
    • Weeks later her husband sells the car

FEBRUARY 2023:
    • Tammy's white/yellow dog Trooper, was found 1 mile from where her car was abandoned
    • Tammy's husband and son did not want to pick up their family dog, so he was put up for adoption in Linn County

APRIL 7, 2023:
    • Trooper was adopted by a member in our group.

Just to note the days of the week along with the known movements, she spoke to her son on Friday telling him she would be back on Monday.

Saturday Oct. 15 she drove north for about 3.5 hrs to Oregon with a lot of cash, so may have stayed overnight in Glendale.

Sunday Oct 16 Stayed in the Best Western in Sutherlin (1 hr north of Glendale), apparently paying cash.

Monday Oct 17 Apparently drove north 1.5 hr as far as Albany, where she was seen on camera around 11 am. Then, sometime later, someone probably drove East (corrected by me) 1.5 hrs from Albany on highway 20, to the turn off to Forest Service Rd 245, and an additional (according to Gmaps) 2 miles down to the dead end of that service road.

Thank you Knox for this great post, I don't have the time to re-look into this case, other than to say I have always worried about Tammy since she went missing.
Could she have decided to end her life? Yes. But I'm really wondering if someone else "helped" her end her life, against her wishes.

We all want to find out what happened to you Tammy!

Thank you @Knox for summarizing this information.

It's been a while since I reviewed this thread form the beginning, but do we know anything regarding Tammy's emotional state prior to her leaving on this 'trip'? I'm wondering if her family and/or friends noticed anything unusual in the days leading up to this.

Logic suggests that something out of the ordinary was happening if Tammy had moving boxes with personal items (clothing, shoes, etc.) inside her car, yet told her son that she would be returning on Monday.

It's also interesting to note that Tammy's husband sold her car "weeks later". If her family expected her to return then I'm wondering why they sold her car a short time after she disappeared?

In addition, what about this "rusted and busted" gun? Real estate agents are known to carry weapons for protection, but this description seems to indicate the weapon was not in working condition. If so, why bring it along with her?

Last night I started a post and got sidetracked. I went back to the initial articles when she first went missing. Her sister said, "Currently, she is not mentally well”.

IMO, Tammy’s twenty year marriage was ending, she had lost her job, her only child was getting married - in short major life changes. Her coping ability tapped out, she needed to escape. Ultimately, I think she is somewhere in the area her car was found. If she wanted to meet amd leave with someone in another car, there are far better places to do that and she wouldn’t have left her dog.

It’s a sad story, the only person who is really keeping it alive is her half sister. Husband remarried and moved on, son doesn’t seem invested in finding his Mom.

Agreed, a very sad story. Tammy certainly had a lot to deal with at the time she went missing.

I'm hoping her disappearance can be solved at some point.

I do too, she must have felt so alone. I think the fact no one in her family wanted to go get her dog after he was found speaks volumes. I would have wanted him because he was last with Tammy and she loved him. Maybe I’m just weird.

That detail does seem really sad, but maybe her son cannot own a dog where he lives. It’s more loving to the dog to be adopted into a good home. I think it’s crazy that her husband is remarried and it’s barely been 2 years.

IF their marriage was ending, Tammy's husband may have already been in a relationship with the new wife. I'm not at all surprised he is already remarried.
I'm wondering if Tammy was in her own new relationship and planned to meet up with someone. The part that doesn't fit is the fact that the dog was found months later. Could she have taken the dog with her, and the dog somehow escaped and found its way back to the car? How did the dog survive winter without food and shelter?

I'll say it again, this is one bizarre missing person case.
It is early here in Albany, Oregon, so here are just a few notes.
Tammy had filed for divorce from Reese her husband before she went missing on her trip to Oregon.
She had two dogs with her. About four months later, only one dog was found in the area where Tammy's car was found in good condition.

I now believe foul play involving Reese her X-husband.
He told the police he did not know anyone around Sweethome when it looked like he was lying.
The son knows more as to why he did almost nothing and said even less.
Linn County sheriff did not do their job right because of lack of experience.

Finding Tammy Pitkin's FB has LOTS of info I have never heard before and need to reread it all when I'm more awake.

There are no details yet, just a headline stating that human remains have been found in the Willamette National Forest. I immediately thought of 2 people (Tammy Pitkin and Lester Whitmeyer) although I’m sure there are many more to be considered. Below is the only detail available as of now. Looking for more information. Has anyone seen anything additional?

Hopefully one family will get closure.
Sadly.
