That's a sad update. I hope the lawsuit leads to change.

We can hope.

The imperative to "Preserve the integrity of an investigation" seems at times to cover a multitude of failures -- including the lack of integrity in a given investigation. What was it going to take for this guy's probation to be revoked? Home invasion and murder and life-changing injuries, I guess. Argh.

Thank you for caring. Here is an update.

Whoa! Thanks for the update. Jamilyn pops into my thoughts with some frequency; how awful to lose your future to some random crazy person. I'm glad Travis' family has some answers, but let's face it - those are some lousy answers. Unfortunately, this is all too common (crimes committed by those who should already be in jail). :(

LE keeping information from family about the suspect 'to maintain the integrity of the investigation' is utterly ridiculous. The suspect was dead from suicide; how was revealing their findings going to impact the investigation? It wasn't. What is WAS going to impact, was whether or not they got sued. FAFO.
