Circumstances of Discovery​

The victim was located in a motel pool at 5900 American Way, Super 8 Motel, Orlando, FL. A couple staying at the motel were walking by and noticed the decedent laying face down at the bottom of the pool. Orlando Police Department was notified.

I wonder if they ever did tox? Intoxicated and fell in/overestimated swimming ability?

If he wasn’t a good swimmer, the clothing would have weighed him down. It sounds like he was wearing a type of cargo pants since they mention deep pockets.

He obviously must not have been staying there even with someone else ( where the room wouldn't have been under his name) as he would likely have been remembered by the front desk being Asian. He perhaps knew someone staying there though, and for whatever reason they did not come forward (he was pushed? he had drugs in his system?).. He could also have been so out of it because of alcohol or drugs or both that he wandered into the hotel not knowing where he was and fell into the pool. Where there any restaurants/bars nearby? The hotel apparently must not have had any surveillance cameras as no footage of him in other areas of the hotel or even walking in the door is mentioned. Cases involving Asian Does are hard to solve by DNA as Asians are underrepresented in DNA databases.

I wonder if Toshiro Okamoto (MP67206) is UP583? He looks a bit like the reconstruction but his height matches our John Doe (5'9) and weight is only off by 4 lbs (156 vs 160). He was last missing on 9/26/88 but distance could end up causing this match to be a rule out? Not sure how easy it would be to get to AK to FL without flying but I guess anything is possible? I wonder if it is a good idea to submit this?

I was thinking the reconstruction looks like it could potentially represent someone who is Indigenous or Pacific Islander. Wish we had actual photos; sounds like he was in viable condition when found.

I too thought of that. One thing that stands out is the mole or birthmark above his nose, next to his right eyebrow.
