Honored to share that Othram was able to assist the Polk County Sheriff’s Office in identifying the suspect in the brutal 1986 assault and murder of 29-year-old Theresa Lee Scalf. Theresa was murdered in her home that she shared with her young son.

Is there a websleuths thread?

Pleased to share that Othram was able to assist the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office & California DOJ in identifying Rodney Alan Rumsey, murdered in 1982. This case was funded through the Roads to Justice program.

Honored to share that Othram helped the San Diego Police Department identify a homicide victim from a half-century ago, as Arminda Grangeia Rodrigues da Silva Ribeiro. An investigation into her homicide continues. We are grateful to RTI, NamUs, and the NIJ for the funding support for this case.

Great write up by KION news. Happy to see more information provided about Othram and their crucial steps and the process that allows these cases to be blown wide open.

A few highlights below but of course there is more detail within the article. Nice work all of you and congrats on yet another success.

Michael Vogen, the director of account management at Othram Labs, stepped us through their critical role in cracking the case and providing answers law enforcement had been searching for.

"Othram is the first private laboratory in North America that was purpose-built to generate human ID from forensic evidence and crime scene evidence," Vogen said. "We're working cases like this one all across California right now and having a great deal of success."

Othram Labs has the capability to look at hundreds of thousands of DNA markers, making it easier to find more distant relatives and reverse engineer back to the direct family.

Thanks. We were not able to find the Websleuths thread.
I wasn't initially either, but then I searched for her first name, since it's kind of distinctive, and the thread popped up since someone else had already posted on there about the solve. Usually the NamUs number is the most reliable search term, but not this time.

Bonus weekend update: Honored to share Othram assisted the Mesa County Coroner's Office in identifying Michael John Alonzi, whose remains were found in 2011. Only partial remains were found, there were no clues or context, and there was no funding. We crowdfunded this case on DNASolves and it is solved because of everyone that helped fund the case!

Really hoping for one of the cases that have been undergoing testing for a long time for Mondays announcement.

Rest in peace Michael.
The Mesa County case from 2011 (announced today) was an older case, crowdfunded on DNASolves. Monday's case is one that was worked directly with the agency and not on DNASolves. We are, however, working as hard as we can with our agency partners to get as many public updates as we can before the end of the year!
