No wonder her family couldn't find her, if they were looking around Chicago. Washington state is quite a way away. And without centralisation of records, there'd be no way of connecting this Jane Doe to Joni at all, even with fingerprints and dentals.

There was very little evidence left. The family never stopped looking for her so it was amazing to finally be able to provide some answers.

The remains of Joan Shirley Joyce, who was born in 1936, were exhumed between Dec. 11, 2023, and the following day at the Lake Trafford Cemetery.
