Trial for woman charged after 4 dead babies found in home delayed after she gives birth in jail

This is just.... woah. And question is, who is the father this time around?

You would think, that they would do some kind of check up prior signing her in... Just to know, if she had any kind of condition demanding regular check up with medical personnel....

Or is she unable to tell being pregnant at all? Do I remember correctly her saying so, regarding her previous pregnancies or am I mixing it up with another case?

If she gave birth in the last few days, then it might have been too early to know she was pregnant when she was arrested. If my math is correct she could have been no further along than eight weeks or so.

That said… surely someone would have noticed by the time they got to scheduling the trial? I’m sure the medical care in a rural jail isn’t great but surely someone would have noticed. Most women show quickly by their (seventh?) pregnancy…

I just hope this infant has been removed by social services immediately. I know in a lot of cases they keep mothers and babies together in custody, but the risk is far too great.

In the US once the baby and mom are released from medical care she goes back to prison and the baby goes with family or social services. Usually 1-3 days post delivery. There are a few prisons that have programs that the baby can stay with the mom for a short period of time, but only if they are a non-violent offender, and those are few and far between
