The last I saw on the news was them showing the license plate and assuming it was left near the airport, or somewhere in Philly. I didn't think they found it yet, but I may have missed something.

This is all that I've seen so far:

"On Tuesday, Allentown police again said they are attempting to locate Esterly’s car, a red, 1999 two-door Honda Accord with the license plate KTL0529, which they believe may be in the Philadelphia area."

Is A's father in her life? I keep reading msm about her mom.

I wonder if this perv was able to manipulate A but first becoming her "father figure" in her life. And then confusing her by starting to flirt, show intimate affection, etc.

I haven't heard anything about her father but that she ran away with her friends father who "was like a father" to her.

Just curious, we know groomed victims are usually vulnerable because of neglect or abuse, in this case it could be her lack of father figure... if her father isn't present in her life.

Does anyone know?

I recall reading that her father had moved back to China long ago. I will look for the link and paste it here.

Her poor mother must be sick with worry.

I found the link.

http://abcnews.go.com/US/mother-missing-teen-waiting-waiting-praying-safe-return/story?id=53658567

It says: "Luu added that Y was an infant when her father left their home to return to China. And ever since Luu has been doing her best raise both kids as a single mother."

This case was featured on crime justice with Ashleigh and some one was with them on a plane on a flight to Dallas

All we know is her mother stated she is a single mom. I haven't seen any info, but I'm assuming her father may not live in the US (if he is living).

I think what you describe is exactly what happened. Sick, sick man.

I think that’s EXACTLY what he did! So terrible!

OT: I’m widowed with 2 small children (well, 8 & 10 yo). I have made tons of other widow friends and there’s lots of programs, camps, etc. available for the children who have lost their parent in the same manner as we lost my husband. My sweet friends all think I’m crazy for not sending my boys to the sleep away camps and continually emphasizing that “They’re FREE!” My gut keeps telling me no though, at least not at the ages they are, because I KNOW there’s people out there like this sick 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 KE who fully take advantage of these kids’ situations and prey on children like them. In reality, I know that 99.99% of the volunteers at these camps are probably just incredibly genuine, caring individuals who want to be a mentor to these kids and a positive male role model, but that 0.01% chance...I just can’t let myself do it.

From recent personal experience, as long as the child has a ticket in their name and photo ID that matches the name on the ticket, it doesn't matter who they're flying with. In the past year, I've had occasion to fly within the U.S. with three different kids, none of whom were related to me or had the same last name, and was never once stopped or questioned about who they were or why they were with me. I even asked one time and was told as long as their ID matches their ticket and my ID matches my ticket, we're good to go.

Thank you for letting us know.

AY may have taken her passport to use for ID, rather than to get into Mexico.

Just on wfmz 10 o'clock broadcast was an interview with A's former youth pastor At the church. No other new details from the police. You can link it later when it's on their website.

[h=1]AY's former youth leader says she will want to come home[/h]
In A's case, Sam says he knew her father had left the family when she and her brother were very young. A's mother raised them by herself.

"They never brought up their dad, ever. They never talked about (their) dad," Sam says.

Sam left the church when he says A was about 12 or 13. He says, he never remembers meeting 45-year-old Kevin Esterly.
A, though, would become friends with Esterly's daughters. She went on vacations with the Esterly family and spent the night at their house.
Sam says it's easy to make a connection that A saw a missing father figure, and Esterly saw a vulnerable young girl.
"I can't ever imagine her going to Kevin, "hey, we should go somewhere together" - especially when you see someone as a father figure. You let them make the move, let them make the suggestion especially since they're the ones that know 'what's going on,'" Sam says.
In the days leading up to her disappearance, Sam says some of A's Snapchat messages said things like “I'm done with this place,” or “I'm done with people who don't like me.”

Does Sam’s quote creep anyone else out? (Maybe it’s just me being my overly-paranoid-self)

Yeah...I'm a bit weirded out by that myself.

The details don't match the headline. New detail - so AY says in SC posts "she is done" and IMO has already made the emotional commitment to leave. People change and I don't see anything in that article other than the leader opinion that she will want to return. Not to bash AY but beside this new comment she also has several hundred texts exchanged between the two as if he were "a boyfriend", she ran over to be with the Esterly at the holiday against the mother's wishes, and left her brother standing at the bus stop the day she left (later taking money and jewelry as reported). That was the level of control he had and the level of commitment she apparently had. This person IMO does not seem to know the person AY evolved to.

Yes, yes it did. Glad I wasn't the only one.

The thing is, they were on that plane on March 5, the same day that her mom reported her missing. Flight time from Philly to Dallas is 3 hours, 4 minutes - gate-to-gate, it's 3 hours, 35 minutes.

https://www.travelmath.com/flying-time/from/Philadelphia,+PA/to/Dallas,+TX

And we don't know exactly when LE got the word that they were spotted, but because the fellow passenger who reported them was on the same flight, it had to be some time after they landed and possibly much later, after he saw news reports. By that time, they were off to who-knows-where?

We don't know the time of the flight. He is buying tickets at the last minute. The plane he did get on was full and he had to ask some passengers to move around so they could sit together. The world being what it is, we can't assume he automatically got on the next available flight with complete convenience. You have add at least 2 hours to ditch (sold) the car after he was last seen and get to the airport. Another hour to wait in line to buy tickets on the next available flight. I checked the Schedule and there are quite a few departures from PHL to DFW during the day. But travel traffic between the two cities is heavy. One could easily justify that It could have taken a whole day just to get to Dallas. Then a night to figure out what to do next. The Police could have AY phone as evidence. That means KE has his phone with access to his infamous FB account that he and his wife fought over. LE knows that he is checking in once and a while to see what is going on. His FB profile is private but those already on his friends list are giving him what for (by some reports much like Louie Jakab). If I were him I would only turn my phone on, if and only if, I were about to move to a new location. When his phone is on, It will ping the nearest cell phone tower. This can be tracked by LE. What makes this hard for LE is that he doesn't have a credit card to track. He is cash only. But sooner or later he is going to have to ask for help. Just like Tad Cummins. (Game of Marco Polo anyone?)

yes but that is the disturbing part of all of this the perp sees an opportunity to take advantage of a gap in the victim life. Seems alot of these happen where there is an absent father figure. This is being strongly compared to the Ted Cummins case, also met a girl MCET in church functions with social problems and bad family background.invited to join family, then began to try to be around her and then finally date her. Cummins took advantage of the and became her savior (MCET reported bullying in school, sounds like AY may have had that). The protection becomes physical. In reports in the Cummins/MCET when they were on the run there were reported intimate moments that she called him "daddy".

That was my bad. I misread a statement saying they think the car is somewhere near the airport as saying they found the car. No confirmation they found it yet.

I wonder why they boarded a plane for Dallas if they were headed for Mexico. It's about a 6.5 hour drive to Laredo from Dallas, and about a 2.5 hour drive from San Antonio to Laredo. Just wondering... Maybe the cost of tickets -- but what about ground transportation after they landed in Dallas? Rental cars aren't inexpensive, either. They're bound to run out of money soon. I checked on the cost of a one-way flight from Philly to Dallas, and prices ran from $128 to about $148 (double it for two people, of course), but that's not too bad, but things add up quickly for two people.

What in the world was/is this man thinking? Does he expect money to fall from the sky?? Or does he have something nefarious in mind? SMH. LE needs to find A soon, soon.

IIRC, I read in a MSM article on this thread that her father went back to China soon after she was born, but I have not been able to find it. I'll keep trying.

Wow, Kapua, a big thanks for a big search you just performed! And now we all know what happened with A's & John's father. Amy's mom has had a heavy burden raising those two peeps all by herself, as have so many other single parents.

Rodnester - we are on the same wavelength

Borndem - I really can't think what he is thinking. I'll only repeat myself in my post up thread I don;t think the destination from Philly was Dallas. - it was Mexico. IMO. TNo direct flight, they pass though Dallas as a connection. Something happens in Dallas stopping the next board to continue to Mexico (the comment posted may not be totally accurate). So now he is left to come up with an alternate plan in Dallas.

As I was thinking \there are two more things that support the PHL-DFW-Mexico connection. Part is what Rodnester says, why would he want to risk getting tickets last minute in Philly (successful) then risk doing the same thing in Dallas, all under time pressure? Just one purchase to Mexico (look it up) Second Dallas seems to be further away than other Texas cities in the opinion of other posters. So Dallas makes no sense unless it was a stopover IMO. .he is probably on plan B or C.

All this will be detailed when they are caught (they will) and the truth comes out. I may be totally off. But IMO they are still in the US. I'll stop being a broken record now.
