The suspect was described as medium-brown complected, tall with a thin build, short hair, wearing a black jacket, long-sleeve pink top, loose-fitting red sweatpants, white athletic shoes, and carrying a black backpack. The suspect was initially described as female but police later said the gender is unclear.

Chernoff went by the nickname of “Alley Cat,” which he also used as the name of his one-man cat-rescue operation. And he was known as “Alley Cat” on the NATGeoTV reality show Rescue Ink about tattoed bikers — including Chernoff — with, as the channel explained, “zero tolerance when it comes to animal abuse.”

the suspect left his/her prints on the fridge and freezer so if s/he has any kind of criminal history, should be quickly identified

I’m truly heartbroken to hear of the senseless murder of this Philadelphian, whose life was an example of everyday heroism on behalf of some of the city’s most vulnerable and defenseless inhabitants. Planning to donate to ACCT Philly, the organization with which he worked to save the lives of countless animals, in gratitude for his selfless service and in honor of his memory. I hope that justice is swift and deals harshly with the evil person who took his life.

Oh my god...14 years old and she beat him to death with a 2x4 full of nails while he was tied to his bed. I am local to the case and know many people who are acquainted with the victim through animal rescue. I do not know him but am aware of his reputation in the community. At the moment questions of who the suspect is and how Mr. Chernoff 's path intersected with the suspect's are confused, and rumor is running rampant on social media. I am trying to catch up with legitimate news sources. My understanding is that the suspect surrendered to police in the company of her parents. How the "escort" allegations tie into this scenario is uncertain at best. I've also seen it suggested that the motive was burglary, not necessarily linked to a sexual encounter. Let's remain victim friendly despite the lurid nature of some news snippets.

Unfortunately, I think there will be much more to this case that comes out. Just a hunch. While I don’t condone murder as a general rule, I do think there are situations where it’s.... understandable. I suspect this might turn out to be one of those times. MOO

I think this perp was masquerading as much older. She definitely looks older to me. There is a FB page of someone with her name that states she went to college. Don't know if we're allowed to link because she claims now to be a minor.

Not sure how much you've read about this case, but there is nothing "understandable" about this robbery and murder. This was a vicious, brutal attack that goes way beyond self defense, which is what this girl and her lawyers will probably try to claim. He had a massive head injury due to being struck with a 2x4 with nails embedded in it and slashing injuries to his chest. She has also been charged with robbery and tampering of evidence. Not only that, she's seen on the surveillance video calmly and nonchalantly walking around his kitchen, washing her hands and going through his fridge like she owns the place. No, there was nothing "understandable" about his robbery and murder. JMO.
