Color me confused as to how a car was seen headed toward a location 45 miles away when it was really in the backyard.

I hope there are some photos of just how sloped the driveway is and how close to the riverbank the car was. Very thankful this baby was found safe.

Head smacking for sure! Definitely better than the alternative.

(Not directed at anyone) All too often we see horrible results when people second guess calling for help so part of me is overjoyed to see the lack of hesitation to call in the troops.

I'm just glad everyone is safe and I started off my day with a chuckle.

I'm more than a little skeptical of this story. I mean, first the car was stolen and heading towards a specific town 45 miles away then it was never stolen at all and found down a hill in the back yard? It doesn't add up. Sounds to me like someone they knew went for a joy ride and now they're trying to cover for it. But whatever, the important thing is that the girl is safe.

Wow, what a weird resolution. I wonder how far the car went out of gear. But happy she's okay!

I would love to see some photos of this embankment and stuff. Very interesting.

And a nice reminder to bring your child inside BEFORE the groceries.

Weird. I had a similar adventure as a 3 or 4 year old. I was at church with my family. It was an LDS church and whatever part of the service was last was of the type where we were separated by age group. So after my class was finished, I went to the parking lot to wait for the rest of my family. My dad's mustang was unlocked, so I opened the door and stood on the doorjamb with the door open so I was up higher and could watch for my family. Only the car started moving. My best guess is dad had it in neutral for some reason. It's possible I somehow kicked it out of gear, I guess, although I had purposely been avoiding touching anything in the control panel area.

So picture this... Little flourish standing on the edge of the car, door open, and car slowly rolling towards a somewhat busy street. Some other church goers see this and yell at me to jump off. But I'm having visions of getting crushed under the car and am frozen in fear. Luckily it wasn't much of an incline and the car stopped when it hit a curb and some bushes. Scary though! And this reminded me... Especially because mine was a mustang too.

I'm so glad this little gal is okay!

I'm so beyond happy to wake up and see that the girl is found and okay but what in the actual heck happened here.

Lesson learned on the parents part to never leave your child in the car

I agree! Very dubious the whole story. Wasn't it reported that the car was stolen in front of some shops or gas station? How then was it found in the family's own backyard? Unless I missed an important part, this doesn't add up. Did the parent have some kind of temporary black out/loss of memory? Very very odd.

But of course I'm relieved this little angel is safe. How long was she trapped in the car alone without food and water?

Well I guess this article answers my questions:

Police say two year old Alexis Weber was in a car that went missing from the family home.

Her mother reported her missing around 7pm Sunday ....
Hours later that car was found in a wooded area behind the home ...
The Amber Alert was cancelled around midnight.

So she was in the car for about 5 hours? Poor thing. One could hope that she was sleeping but wasn't it dinner time?

Thank God that beautiful little girl is ok. But wow what a story. I'm a little confused about something though. Wouldn't the car keep moving as the mom was getting out of the car if she didn't put it in park? That would mean the mom would of almost gotten ran over. If it really did slip out of gear while she was in the house, I think it's time for a new car.

Thank goodness this child is okay!

However, I question how safe her home life is?

This story is so twisted, how did it get spun as it did? Is there more to the story that we haven't heard? Don't officers normally check thoroughly around a missing person's house at first?
