Clothing: Lee brand blue jeans, size 29x32; two pair of white/gray socks, Brooks Uniquebrand red/white sneakers, size 10 1/2 with no laces.
Clothing/Fabric Found Near Remains: purple/gray/green multi-colored fabric; orange fabric; red fabric; blue & white "Direct Connection" racing team ball cap.
Medical: he had received blunt force trauma to his face roughly a month before his death. The injuries could have been caused by an accident or assault.
Fingerprints: not available (skeletal remains)
DNA: sample unavailable
Dentals: Available. Both lateral incisors were absent prior to death. He had a large gap between his two front teeth.

Case Details
On Sunday, April 28, 1991 at around 6 pm, two people walking on a hillside near Albert Street in Allentown made a grisly discovery. Scattered on ground, about 300 yards north of the Hamilton Street Bridge, were the skeletal remains of this unknown man. The location is near Canal Park, on the eastern side of the Lehigh River, on the outskirts of what was once the city dump.
In July 1991, the man's teeth, which had been scattered about the hillside where he was found, were used in the creation of a 3-D reconstruction in the hopes that someone would recognize his unique smile. Sadly, no one came forward to identify him and he remains unnamed.

Using a recently created computer rendering, Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim and District Attorney Jim Martin on Friday asked for the public’s help in identifying a man discovered by two hikers more than 27 years ago on a steep embankment near the Lehigh River in east Allentown."

"The most distinctive aspect of the 3-D bust was the man's smile, which showed a large gap between his front teeth and both lateral incisors that were missing before he died.

“Teeth are one of the things that people might recognize, " Rodriguez said at the time.

Anyone with information on the man is asked to call the Lehigh County Coroner’s office at 610-782-3426"

"Modern techniques such as geochemical isotope analysis were utilized to determine possible birth places for John Doe as well as where he possibly lived.

Thanks to the analysis, experts found that it was likely that John Doe was born in the southern United States, and possibly spent his early years in South Florida or central Texas.

John Doe also spent a significant amount of time prior to his death in the area of Northeastern United States to the Midwest, possibly in the Allentown area.

John Doe was also found to be clothed when he was discovered in 1991, notably wearing a pair of size 10.5 Brooks Unique brand hi-top sneakers, which were white with red accents. The shoes were laceless and had a handwritten number six on the heel notch above the sneaker logo."

Lehigh County John Doe is featured in a new exhibition hosted by The University of South Florida’s Institute of Forensic Anthropology & Applied Science (IFAAS).

New USF Art Exhibit Aims to Help Solve Cold Case Homicides
Exhibition displays consist of clay busts and drawings, digital compositions, artifacts and information about the crime scenes. Kimmerle, USF graduate students and Sgt. Sergio Soto, a forensic artist with IFAAS, created the reconstructions and exhibit. Their work is part of the ongoing statewide cold case initiative by IFAAS, for which the team conducted a number of forensic methods - such as exhuming Jane and John Doe graves for skeletal analysis, facial and clothing reconstructions, chemical isotope testing of the bones, hair and teeth, as well as DNA testing.

Case 10: Brooks Sneakers from Allentown, PA

Skeletal remains were found on the steep embankment, near the Hamilton Street Bridge by a group of adolescent boys. The decedent’s remains were transferred to the Department of Defense Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Delaware in June of 1991, where they remained in a closet until 2014. The manner and cause of death are Unknown. The remains are those of an African American man, 30-45 years-old, approximately 5’5”to 5’8” ft. tall. Previously he suffered from a broken nose and trauma to his face, which healed but left some deformation. He wore “Brooks Unique” brand shoes in size 10.5, with a “6” written on the ankle above the logo. Chemical isotope analysis indicates he was born in southern Florida or Central Texas, but lived in the Northeastern region for several years prior to his death.
