Amanda Caldwell, 29, failed to show up for work Thursday. Police said Caldwell made statements Wednesday about meeting a man for a first date. The last contact she had with anyone was just after midnight Thursday, when she responded to a friend’s Snapchat.

Joseph Zyvith, a man police said is an acquaintance of Caldwell, was also reported missing by his family. His car was found behind Amanda's apartment. Police found a small amount of blood in the car.

Amandas car is also missing.

I hope I did this correctly. I'm not very familiar with starting threads.

His car is behind her apartment, he's no where to be found.. there's blood in his car and her car is missing. I'm guessing he took off in her car after she was injured or worse. MOO JMO

Caldwell’s cellphone was found inside her apartment, while Zyvith’s has been turned off.

Investigators believe Caldwell and Zyvith were bowling with a group of people Wednesday night.

Caldwell’s car, a red 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer with Pennsylvania license plate HNA-3595, is missing.

Zyvith’s cabin in Potter County was searched, but nothing was found.

Here's what I'm wondering: articles keep stating that she was meeting a man for a first date that night, but then go on to refer to JZ as an "acquaintance". Was he the one she went on the date with or was he just someone she knew that maybe was within the group of folks she was supposedly bowling with that evening?

This article says her family went to her apartment early thursday and Zyvth's Toyota was there but not Caldwell's. Then around 5 pm thursday, Zyvith's vehicle was there and Caldwell's was not.

Greensburg police investigating couple's 'suspicious' disappearance; blood found in vehicle

Something went wrong in your sentence, here is the original
When Caldwell’s family went to her apartment earlier in afternoon, Zyvith’s Toyota was not there but Caldwell’s vehicle was, police said.

“But about 5 p.m. Thursday when we went there, Zyvith’s vehicle was parked there and Amanda’s car was not there,” Swank said, “so possibly sometime between 3 and 5 p.m. Thursday someone went back there.”

You did good and welcome! Here's the latest - her bank card was used at gas stations in South Carolina. There is also a neighbor's statement of what she observed at the apartment. I ran Zyvith through common pleas court criminal records - he has quite a few traffic infractions including DUI when he was pretty young, but nothing that raised red flags as to behavior that could pose a danger. I was wondering the same. According to the article linked below:

“‘“Right now, we’re not sure whether Zyvith is the person Miss Caldwell was meeting for a first date. Any information anybody could provide would be greatly appreciated,’ [police Detective Sgt. John] Swank said.”

Same article, but updated 8 minutes ago, now reads:

“Late Friday afternoon, investigators said an employee at the Virginia truck stop where the first purchase was made reviewed video surveillance and reported ‘a couple, together, in a red car’ purchased gasoline at the time in question.

‘Then, he told us that after pumping gas the man and woman walked over to Arby’s to get something to eat,’ Swank said. ‘He said told us it matches their descriptions … but we don’t know for certain because we haven’t viewed the tape ourselves and we’re working on getting more information and on the South Carolina purchase too.’

Police also obtained a security video from the Speedway station on Route 119, south of Greensburg, in Hempfield where a couple matching the descriptions of Caldwell and Zyvith filled a car with gasoline about 4 a.m. Thursday.”

Last activity was at 10:19 am on Wednesday, when he updated his profile picture. Choice of photo is somewhat interesting, IMO, considering:

So they went on a “ spontaneous vacation” but she didn’t call into work and left her cell phone behind? Strange, but super glad this had a happy ending!! Must have been one heckuva first date...:)

And the blood on the steering wheel. Still seems weird to me.

'No regrets' for Greensburg police in all-out search for 'missing' couple

Despite an around-the-clock push to locate a Greensburg area couple who appeared to vanish late last week becoming all for naught after police discovered the pair was in South Carolina on a “spontaneous vacation,” city police said they have no regrets in how they handled the situation.

“It was the result we all were hoping for … everybody’s was safe. Given the exact same set of circumstances, we’d investigate it the same way again,” said Greensburg Police Capt. Robert Stafford. “We’re police. That’s what we’re supposed to do.”
