PA PA - ANTONIO RODRIGUEZ Kensington Strangler

Well this solves the DNA confusion.

Rodriguez submitted his DNA October 25th. Because of a backlog it was not uploaded until January 10th.

Link also mentions he was believed to be homeless living in abandoned houses. Again he knew the places to murder women where he wouldn't get caught.

Has family from North Philly who were brought in and questioned as well as whoever the two people on Mutter street were when he got arrested.

That leaves the tipster. My guess is it was someone in that house and they left and tipped them off. Maybe.

In keeping on the lines J.J. was thinking....was he receiving welfare? If so he needed a physical addy. Also I posted way back about the mission. I wonder if he had been in there to grab a meal?

Also statements from Elaine's parents. How very, very, very sad. Her dad said the money they raised was going to pay off her school loans.

Okay that make sense..

This link shows the scar on his neck very clearly. It looks like maybe he also had a tracheotomy, IMO. Could such an injury have also caused the distinct limp to the left? Could he have been receiving disability pmts? Just some MOO and questions.

Oh yes much better picture.

He did have a last know address so he could been getting some kind of payment. Or maybe he using his family address.

Philly "Kensington Strangler" Suspect in Custody
snip
Rodriguez was taken into custody on a unrelated bench warrant near the area of the murders after a caller phoned in a tip, reports KYW-TV. The announcement Monday night came shortly after a news conference in which Philadelphia Police Capt. James Clark said Rodriguez was being sought as a "person of interest" in the case.

Well not arrested yet for murders but he still in custody...that all that count!

I thought the same thing tfronig. My bro was homeless for awhile due to alcoholism and drugs. He would disappear for periods of time and we'd have no idea where he was but he used my mom's address and would show up unannounced to retrieve his mail. Anyone receiving gvmt services needs a consistent address. And one above article stated the rapists' family has been questioned, IIRC.

I just wonder how he got that terrible scar?!

MOO

ps. dear bro is doing better and now lives with my mom. It was a long road for him to straighten up. He suffered a stroke and pancreitis and will never be the same. We are just thankful he is alive and is off of the booz and susbtance abuse.

Generally you need a mailing address, like a shelter or a PO box, or a friend's house.

He was picked up about a mile from where most of the assults occured (maybe about 1.5 miles by foot).

It is also about a mile and a half from my front door, not too far from where Gary Heidnik lived.

Looks like he has a scar all the way up the left side of his neck too. Looks like maybe someone sliced his throat and he might have had a trach at the time of injury. That area may have been cut too because that is one messed up trach scar.

Great news that they got him! I hope you Philly folks feel safer now. Thanks to the brave tipster who helped the police find this creep!

Channel 6 reported AR confessed. If so, it is over.

Confessed he paid for "rough sex" then strangled them when done, he chose his victims by random and had zero remorse.

I so glad your brother is doing better. ♥

I also feel sad for this guy at one time he was little boy and something went so wrong. He only 21 that is sad. :(

He is off the streets of Kensington. I hope if this tragedy save one woman to get help and turn her life around.... there be some kind blessing come from this.

Since he paid for it, the welfare check theory might have been accurate.

Rodriguez's last known address was on Mascher Street near Ontario, but Clark said the felon was considered homeless and frequented abandoned houses in the Kensington area.

The house where he was found is about a block away on Mutter Street, near Westmoreland.

The tipster did not provide his or her personal information, so it is unclear how he or she will receive the $37,000 reward offered for the Strangler's arrest and conviction. Of that, $7,000 was offered just for his arrest.

Pi**ed somebody off. As soon as I heard that about the scar I posted if that indeed is a limp he has that's also on his left side. I so wished one of those poor young women could have fought him back.

WM, Bless your brother. I am so glad he's doing well. I am certain it has eased your mom's mind as well. That's not an easy road he's taken. He done good.

From your link:

PHILADEPLHIA — The man who Philadelphia police believe could be the Kensington Strangler has confessed to four murders, sources have told NBC station WCAU.

DNA links Antonio Rodriguez, 21, to three murders in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia, police said at a Monday night news conference.

During that news conference, a 911 call came in saying that Rodriguez was hiding out in a house on the 3300 block of Mutter Street in Kensington.

An officer saw Rodriguez heading into the house. The person of interest then fled on foot but was caught nearby, police said.

Rodriguez and two other people inside the house were taken in for questioning.

Sources say that during the questioning, Rodriguez confessed to four murders, though police say that DNA only links him to three

J.J. I lived on Waterloo as a very young child. My dad worked the Heidnik case many years later. I also have other family that had to deal with that lunatic. His victims will never be forgotten.

Let us not forget the crazed shoemaker and Mrs. Noe. My mom used to say the dye from the rug mills got into their brains. A Fishtown vs Kensington thing with her always.;)

O/T everytime I see a map and see Hope Street I:rolleyes: think of how they changed the sign to read Dope Street.

I choose not to believe that.

Random? That's BS. The majority of the prostitutes there are caucasian but there's also Latino and African American women that work the Avenue as well.

Elaine had been clean for some time. Maybe picked up, but you'd be less inclined to go with a trick then. To buy dope, yeah. Take loot for rough sex? Nope. I don't believe a word the creeper says.

Some of them might have, the survivors. AR probably told them that he wanted to do, rough sex, and they provided the service. :(

There are no winners in this.

Agreed.

Ummmmmm our Mayor said this?

http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/...of_Interest_in_Strangler_Case_in_Custody.html

Whoops warning it's a curse but it's blanked out.

However comment number four makes a good point. Is this going to be prosecuted as a hate crime? I'm no Attorney, but I'd say that's ethnic intimidation. A crime was commited against women motivated obviously by bias. This guy targeted women who are caucasian. Maybe he broguht up the "paying for it" to cover some tracks?

Were his past drug offenses for distribution? Was he dealing when he commited the crimes? If so he wouldn't need welfare money to pay someone for prostitution.

If he's the same guy targeted the woman who got hit with the brick, right? If that's him then she said he asked for a date and she declined, but he still hit the lady with a brick, and tried to stab her with scissors. Where's money come in there?

Again this is JMHO. Say Elaine for instance. She lived at home and was going to school. If she picked up she'd have an ample resource of money for drugs. She wouldn't have to turn a trick. If she had no cash she could have pawned something. I doubt she'd ask for money because then her family and friends would know she picked up.

Nope I do not believe the guy. I see it more as he said he had the dope. A "come back here" kind of thing. Pure speculation, but she could have already copped and went back there to use and he followed her.

You have a "homeless" person with access to numerous abandoned buildings/houses. Yet he strangled women in broad daylight outside?:waitasec:
