Kristen Herold, 43, of Wexford and formerly of Butler, was charged Friday morning with two counts of felony hindering apprehension or prosecution, one count of endangering the welfare of children and one count of recklessly endangering another person.

She was brought Friday, in restraints, to the district court at 121 Sunnyview Circle to be arraigned before District Judge Kevin P. O’Donnell.

She is being held on $200,000 bail. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday in district court.

Police say Herold Tuesday morning picked up Bentley around 9:30 a.m. from the Super 8 motel on Route 8.

Bentley, who had severe injuries, was unresponsive and she pulled over at shopping plaza

OMG, if this CBS news article is accurate then it explains why officials said it was the worst case of child abuse they'd ever seen:

Police say Lambing called his mother that morning saying Bentley had a medical issue.

Officers allege Herold attempted to transport the 4-year-old from the Super 8 Motel to his biological father’s home, all while the child was bleeding excessively from the rectum. She did not attempt to contact emergency services until the child became unresponsive.

The boy was pronounced dead at Butler Memorial Hospital and the coroner ruled the boy’s death as a homicide.

This just stinks of an attack due to rage. LE says they don't believe Bentley's mother was involved in any way. That's chilling because it means that either red flags were missed or worse, that there was no way to predict that the boyfriend would act out in such a violent manner.

As a mother of 22 year old son if he ever tried this I would first ensure the baby got help. After that my son isn't going anywhere but behind bars. Sorry. Don't care. My son had made life interesting and love him to pieces. Never would I cover or help him in any crime. Much less murder of a baby or any person. Shameful woman.

I will have to research JL past if I can......juvenile records of theft, drugs and violent behavior, so everyone knew he had issues.

I agree, there have been so many arrests and bad family matters in the past. This family, I'm sorry to say has made the news many times. Well known to police in our town. I would never cover for anyone no matter ho much love I have. and why not call 911 asap and get help! I think they planned on dropping Bentley off at his bio dads and when he died the bio dad would go to jail. How awful and wicked to think that way. JMOO

Bentley was most recently living in Butler with his mother, Mackenzie Peters, and her boyfriend, Mr. Lambing. The couple have a four-month-old son together who was taken into custody by Butler County Children, Youth and Families. They had been staying for several weeks at the Super 8 motel in Butler Township.

Some of the injuries were a week old...... where was the baby's mother????????????? At work???? What kind of work??? Even prostitutes take better care of their children. Was she on crack???? Out selling drugs????? How could she not know at least a little about what was going on ..... jail for her also.
