All,

In lieu of writing a new blog entry about the Dunn case, I'm going to be doing a relatively short article today for Court TV's crimelibrary.com.

Wanted to share something that really meant a lot to me with people who would know and understand why -- I just published a new article about the Taylor Behl case over at crimelibrary.com yesterday, and earlier tonight I received a short, kind note about the article from Janet Pelasara, Taylor's mom. I know that's OT for this thread, but I was moved that she'd bother, and if anyone would understand why that affected me, it's probably the average poster to this thread. My article there tried to add a human dimension, just as I've hopefully done with Brandi's murder, draw in elements from the blogosphere, and recap the internet element of the Behl case.

Back on-topic -- Pittsburgh media is really all over this story now, and I think I can safely drop the under-reported comment from any future thoughts on this case. Talked to a couple of press folks up there, including Bob Mayo, the anchor who was kind enough to work a screenshot of my blog into that video package. The myspace angle is apparently MOST interesting. I have a friend who besides being a websleuth knows their way around coding for the web like nobody's business, and they are working on making some of that now locked or thought-to-be-deleted info available again.

Anyone here hasn't cleared their browser cache since the last time you looked at Brandi & Scott's myspaces, please let me know. E-mail [email protected]. We may be able to retrieve the cached page and put up a mirror at another domain -- at least of the profile pages.

Steve

Steve, it's no surprise that Taylor's mom would send you a kind note. You handle these horrible crimes with a certain kind of dignity that I haven't really seen in a true-crime blogger. It's probably partially due to you being a parent yourself.

I saw Taylor's mom yesterday on a cable news show and it was hard watching her. You could just tell she's in so much pain even though she's doing her best to keep it together. My heart ached for her as she talked about just going from room to room in her house because "Taylor was everywhere" in their home. :( I'm glad Fawley was caught. (Would he have been caught sans personal websites?) Way off-topic here!

===
How would I go about finding on my pc the original MySpace page(s) if the internet cache hasn't been cleared? The "History" function? "Favorites" if it was saved there?

Police Track Killer in Mercer County Murder

Just across the state line in Mercer County, police investigators are methodically tracking a killer.

The brutality of Brandi Dunn's murder left people in the Grove City area grasping for words to describe it. Early Saturday morning, someone bludgeoned this 22-year-old woman to death, then set fire to the home in which she was staying. Two days ago, the state police major case team appealed for help from anyone who saw something that may relate to the crime. Now those leads are coming in.

“We're getting a lot of second, third hand information. They heard that this person had seen Brandi here, had talked to this, or comments were made,” said Pennsylvania State Police Cpl. Cheryl Michalski.

Has a coroner's report been issued? Did it mention any lividity? If she had been killed the night before the fire, then perhaps the blood would settle in those lower portions of the body.

Huff has some news. Dunn did not confess. He lawyered up and has stopped talking to police.
And the edits that were made prior to Brandi's myspace site being removed?
LE doesn't yet know who made them.
Also, at the viewing- though there were lots of pictures of Brandi, pictures from childhood to young adulthood. There were no wedding photos.

As investigators on Thursday combed the burned-out rubble of the Mercer County home of Brandi Dunn's parents, bloggers across the country watched and waited for new clues in her slaying.

"It's a case that's generated a lot of interest, I think, because a lot of people feel like they can relate to (Dunn). She's like someone they know," said Steve Huff, a Court TV Internet writer and author of HuffCrimeBlog.com. "That's what captivated me."

LOL, they act like this is the only case the internet has ever followed. Still I am glad they are driving attention to Steve's blog. Maybe because he is saying the things they can't say as reporters.

Looks like Chris Keck, supposedly the Go Steelers character, has an extensive criminal record with Mercer county.

Is there a link where we can check this out?

VERY interesting article here is just a little bit from it:

According to a search warrant and court documents, when police arrived on the scene, Scott Dunn was pacing the yard, talking on his cell phone.

Dunn told police he came home to find a man with blond hair and a red flannel shirt beating his wife, who was on the floor.

He also told authorities the attacker ran through the house and escaped out the back door as Dunn chased him.

When Dunn got back to the house, he told investigators it was on fire.

In court papers, however, police said they checked the muddy ground behind the house and found no footprints where Dunn said he chased Brandi's attacker.

The police affidavit said once the fire was out, they found Brandi's body just three to four feet inside the front door, with a gasoline can next to her body.

So my question is this - Scott said he saw a man beating her while she was lying on the floor - but they foudn her jsut a few few inside the front door.

Dunn doesn't even lie well. Which is probably a good thing as he will spend the rest of his life in jail for what he did.

Wonder if Scott knows someone who has blonde hair and wears flannel shirts? Trying to deflect suspicion onto someone else?

That post on the other website had a woman forom that area stating that "her daughter's girlfriend was killed by her husband". Sounds likely that is the word around town in Grove City.

Police must not have enough evidence to arrest the husband - yet.

Or perhaps was describing himself, in case anyone had seen him coming or going.

Has anyone else noticed that a couple of the myspace 'friends', whose profiles were previously available, changed them to 'private' a couple days back? Not saying that means anything; just an observation.

Yeah, they all seemed to have clammed up a couple of days ago. I hope they're talking to the cops.

I wonder if Chris Keck is closely related to the WM KECK FOUNDATION family. That name is all over if you google KECK in Pittsburgh.

I don't think it matters though as far as solving this case goes. Dunn. Did it.

I never really cared for "muddy ground" before, but after reading the excerpt from the last article I rather like it! Sounds like some good police work there. Hope it continues.

Have her parents been as silent as it seems to me? I haven't been able to keep up lately.

I can't wait to hear they arrested this guy. He needs to be behind bars.
