The attorney for a man accused in the hit-and-run death of a 25-year-old man in Beaver County said his client regrets not coming forward to police.

“If he would've just pulled over, we wouldn't be here today,” Steve Colafella, Aeschbacher’s attorney, said. “He regrets not coming forward. He's not in good health and we're hoping to work something out.”

An Ohioville man will serve one year in jail and two years on house arrest after entering a no contest plea in the hit-and-run death of an Industry man.

William J. Aeschbacher, 63, pleaded no contest for a felony charge of causing an accident involving death and two summary offenses of failure to render aid and failure to notify police for the 2016 death of 25-year-old Brandon Bixler.

During victim impact statements, Bixler's father and mother testified. Patrcia Bixler began crying, telling the court her son would have turned 26 this Halloween.

"How anyone could hit a person, see them lying there on the road, not have any compassion whatsoever?&#8221; she said. "All of our family is having such a hard time dealing with the fact that my pride and joy is no longer here to share our lives and watch his nieces grow up.

"You left my son with no compassion. A huge piece of my heart is gone. Just a numb feeling."
