I just drove thru Breezewood yesterday - My son is going to college in VA and we had Freshman orientation - we live near Pittsburgh. The guy could be from anywhere. (I looked back and saw I commented in 2010 that this guy could be from anywhere) I wish we knew if they had any rule outs for this UID since none are listed in NamUs.

When our youngest was going to CMU, we'd often leave home in the Boston area after work and stay overnight in Breezewood. We'd usually take a walk and stretch our legs before bed. I'm pretty sure we must have walked within a couple hundred yards of where the remains were found. But I don't remember ever hearing anything about him.

I grew up just 10 minutes from the area and worked there in my teens. I vaguely remember them finding the body, but I was just a young kid then. The place is definitely a hub for travelers, and to find a body there (there's been more) it is probably impossible to assume that they're from the area. With the turnpike exit there, and I-70 dumping out there, he could be from anywhere.

I have a friend who refers to Breezewood as "America's Rest Stop". When you have US 30, I-76 (Turnpike), and I-70 coming together, it leaves far too many possibilities. Keep in mind I-76 has an interchange with I-80 just 23 miles into Ohio near Lordstown. Both 70 and 80 cross the country and 80 itself connects with I-90 near Cleveland. You're also just a few hours from I-95 and I-77.

Since Breezewood usually has more travelers drive through than it has population, pretty much any city is fair game. How close the home city is depends on how much of a roadtripper the killer was. Breezewood is very well-known around the area for being a stop here, but it's people from the general area (PA, MD, WV, parts of OH in particular) who are more aware of it since they have used it to go to/from Baltimore, Philly, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, etc.
