Just saw this on the news this morning (where have I been??) and feel sick for this girl. I can't even imagine. Re: the witness possibly thinking gunshots, I've heard a car window break and while it doesn't sound like a gunshot it's VERY loud. I assume it has something to do with the kind of glass they use for vehicles. So maybe he heard that (when Carlesha broke it) and saw the glass falling to the road and just automatically assumed.

Just a thought. I sure hope they find her soon. I don't know if it's been said yet whether she was on that bus or not, but if not, he drove right past her while she was walking, turned & parked and went back for her. Just astounding how fast something so unthinkable happens.

Based on the quoted text above I do believe that there were gunshots. The quote is now gone from the article (it was updated) I think LE is trying to keep as much info out of the media as possible. (for good reason)

It also says this in the first article you quoted, just under your bolder bit:
"Freeland-Gaither, according to police, kicked out the driver side rear window as the car drove off".

I believe the noise the witness heard was Carlesha kicking hard at the window before it broke. I'm inclined to agree with what LE puts out at this point, that she did, in fact, kick the windows out. Hopefully we will find out more at the presser today.

Quoting my own post. Not sure why this photo hasn't been made public!

Maybe they will show the picture at press conference.

Yes, the accounts are from two different people.

The person in the car thought it was a gunshot that had broken the glass.

The eyewitness on the street described it as a "tap tap pap pap".

If I was describing a gunshot, those aren't the words I would use. They make me think of a quieter sound, more a dull sound. A gunshot is a bang bang. JMO.

I know it was the other person, but I think it is significant someone on scene is reporting hearing gunshots. If it were me, a hand gun would be described as pop-pop-pop, so I personally think what was heard was gunfire, everyone describes it diiferently.

And why the heck so many are using 'apparent abduction' I seriously cannot understand!

She CLEARLY was not going willingly (and based on basement info LE surely knows that) I'm shocked they're even letting the inference that this was possibly something OTHER than an abduction is making me nuts!

Even if she knows him she still wasn't going willingly and it would be an abduction.

Chilling, brazen, sobering, haunting, and so many other words would be much better choices and get a heck of a lot more people watching the video than those who see the title and think oh she just had a fight with her BF and didn't want to go home with him (or something like that like)

There is no way in the world this should be downplayed!

If we go with it actually really being gunshots, then do we think that means she did NOT kick out the windows? Or kicked one out and then shots were fired?

Otherwise the timing of her managing to kick the windows coinciding with the shots being fired seems crazy coordinated (which obviously wouldn't have been intentional) since one thought she kicked the windows out and the other thought they were shot.

And in either case, if it was all shots, you'd think he'd have shot HER not the windows out (it'd attract WAY too much attention (esp. if she could then be seen) to have shot out windows - so while maybe he could have had bad aim once and gotten the window, surely he couldn't accidentally do the same on the other side?

I much preferred how I interpreted it originally and that being the one just thought he heard shots and in reality it was her kicking the windows out.

Someone this brazen and determined to get her, and having a knife (and now possibly also a gun) doesn't bode well at all for her survival I don't think :(

PA does NOT have plates on the front. Neither does Delaware....HOWEVER neighboring states of New Jersey, Maryland, and Virginia (all of whom have light colored plates) do have front plates. I believe New York does as well.

This has probably already been posted but I read that her ATM card has been used in Maryland.

Woah!

It was just used this morning!

Carlesha Freeland-Gaither's Grandmother confirms Carlesha's ATM card was used this morning in Aberdeen MD @6abc

Even more brazen - his actions and description have been spreading across the country thanks to that incredible video!

Or I guess he could have passed it off to someone else (or left it somewhere hoping someone else would take it and use it) to throw LE off and steer things away from how he looks now, etc.

This is seriously a very unusual one...we rarely see cards of victims used.

Now we have a full videoed abduction, victim's card being used (and used well after images and video of the perp have really spread) AND a victim doing the textbook things to fight for her safety all in one case! Really, really rare combo!

Wondering if her card was used as an ATM card (pin required) or as a credit card....

Sadly I think she may have been a random target.

If he is using her card I doubt very seriously that she is alive somewhere.

But I am hoping and praying very hard that he has her some placed locked away and LE can get there in time to save her.

No one is safe on the streets alone anymore whether it is a man or a woman, not even in broad daylight much less at night. There are so many bad people cruising the streets looking for vulnerable targets nowadays.

God be with her and her family.

It worries me that this guy - clearly hellbent on doing what he did - may feel like he has nothing to lose at this point.

He's on video taking her - that's far more than we've had in most cases.

Even in HG case recently, where we saw the perp in the area, and he was seen with her, but no one actually saw him force her anywhere, etc.

It'd be awfully hard to argue he wasn't involved (whoever "he" is) since the male is clearly forcing her into the car, so the only point they might manage as a defense would be to say it wasn't "him."

He then went and did a transaction (and everyone knows nowadays a very, very high percentage of stores have surveillance also) meaning he's likely on video using her card as well.

I fear he's really going to figure he's got nothing to lose because they have all this stuff on him that would likely send him away for much, if not all, of his life even if she is found alive, and that he might then do even more (to Carlesha or someone else)

This is such a scary, scary case - and keeps getting worse and not better :(
