I am asking this because I do not know - so please forgive the cultural insensitivity / ignorance. Would a woman named 'Tiffany' be that devout of a Muslim? It seems an atypical name for someone born into a devout Muslim family, and if one converts, does not one change their name? (I'm thinking of Mohammed Ali here)

So many failures from the school end.

:shakehead:

But I have been over to my kids schools often enough to know how easy it is for someone to either not check in at the office period or to slip out of the office without authorization. All it takes is to show up at a busy time (morning or afternoon rush)

knew her by name: sitter? did she have a babysitter? - that is someone she would go willingly with

Just saw Amber Alert on tv. Women completely covered, except for the eyes, are not uncommon at all.

Keeping your first name is ok, it is the last name that gets changed. Men tend to take a new first name..Not an expert at all..

Jmo, but if someone came to the office and said she was going to pick up a child, and gave a name that was not mother's name or fathers name, there's no way in shell she should have left the front office without an escort.

Yes all covered, but I am wracking my brain trying to think when is the last time I saw black gloves on a woman dressed in garb..

Hopefully this woman feels that she is a better care taker for this child, And no harm will come to her.
I had to pick my grandson up at school last week (Bucks County PA.) I had to be buzzed into the building,I had to show my licence it was then scanned. Sign a paper and the early dismissal book. They asked my grandson from behind a locked glass door if he knew me before they opened it to me..

I wonder if LE is positive this is woman, could be a small frame man.. That would explain gloves..plus no fingerprints

I had the same thought. This HAS to be someone known to the child, or at least the family. I feel pretty certain of this.

:waitasec: Did you mis quote as I do not understand your reply in reference to my post as on previous page:

All of the above is true. And that is why teachers are not allowed to let anyone, including the parents, come into the classroom and take the child out. Only an office worker should be allowed to do that.

I think it is a pretty big coincidence and a lucky break for ' Tiffany' that there was a substitute teacher this morning. Think about it, how very 'lucky' that was.

I bet the regular teacher would have known Naiilla's mom was not named Tiffany and probably would have recognized her, hajib or not.

And if nothing else, the regular teacher would have said that the visitor needed to go back and wait in the office, and could not take the child with her right then. JMO

This is horrible... and I agree, its a really BIG coincidence that there was a sub this morning. Makes me wonder if the regular teacher is ok.

She is soooo adorable. Praying she is safe.

http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/5-Year-Old-Girl-Abducted-From-West-Philly-School-Cops-186865992.html

Omg......the substitute totally failed IMO......at my daughters school we have to sign in when we enter the school, take a slip to the teacher, obtain our child, then return the slip to the office to show that we've picked our child up....plus our office people are familiar with all the parents... I just can't get over how this school failed to keep something like this from happening.

Way behind, just found out about this.
I hope she has been found by the time I finish reading.

At our kindergarten and elementary school, the person has to check in at the front desk (right by the door). They check id against child's record to see if person is on authorized list to take child, and if okay, they radio the room and someone escorts the child back up to the front desk to be picked up. As they get older, they are able to come up without an escort after being paged. Most every time the parent does not go to the child's room.

Would a school even let someone sign a child out of school for "breakfast"?? Ive been out of school a while but somehow I dont think they woukd have let me go without it being an emergency or having a note to get out early.

At 8:50 am she wouldn't have been in school that long! I would definitely think its suspicious barring an emergency that someone would sign a child out so early.

Eta: We had the same thought Cheese!

From this article -

- mom's name is Latifah (not Tiffany)

- Mom dropped Nailia off at 8:45am

- Nailia on video leaving school with abductor at 8:50am

http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?section=news/local&id=8954549

So 5 minutes from drop off to abducted and exiting the school. I bet the abductor was waiting.

And why would someone drop their child off at 8:45 and then sign them out of school @ 8:50, 5 minutes later? Wouldn't the sub wonder about this?

Who would know her brother's friend Tiffany, and also this child? Tiffany is not that common of a name.
