I was so hoping we would have an arrest by now. This seems like a no-brainer. We have a live victim (whom is most likely a normal observant 5 yr old), multiple people who talked to or saw the abductor, a small radius, etc. So many clues, but no arrest, very disheartening!!!

I think an arrest is coming. LE is quietly going about their work without too much in the way of comment since the presser.

MOO

I think they are following leads and on track to solving this case.

Mother of abducted 5-year-old retains high-profile attorney

Kline on Thursday told the Daily News that Latifah Rashid contacted him Wednesday for help in the ongoing investigation around her daughter's abduction - about which police have reported no new developments.

"She wants to turn her attention to taking care of her daughter, and so she thought that she needed help and reached out to me, and I told her that I would undertake the task," Kline said. "She ... fully wants to and needs to cooperate with this investigation. She wants to see the perpetrator or perpetrators brought to justice, and she has asked me to serve as her lawyer and her liaison and someone who can help guide her."

I don't understand. How does hiring a high-profile attorney help to bring the perpetrator or perpetrators to justice? What is their job at this point?

I could see if LE was ignoring this case, but that is hardly happening. I don't understand why the mother would ever need a lawyer, personally.

Unless you're going to file a large civil suit...Even if it is last on the list...

I am wondering just why mom feels she needs a lawyer....

I was hoping someone on this thread could share a viable reason...

The only cases I see parents lawyering up is if there is a possibility that the parents may be associated with the crime... and I have not read anywhere that LE thinks this mom is involved in this kidnapping...

Do we see a lawsuit towards the school coming?

I remember on one of the facebook pages.... very soon after the kidnapping.... a poster indicating that the school or district should pay for the child's college education since they allowed her to be kidnapped...

Just some thoughts...

Kline said the first order of business is to ensure that the little girl is able to reintegrate back into school. Second, he said, is aiding Rashid in the criminal process to see that the girl's kidnappers are brought to justice.

"Mom and daughter won't feel safe or be safe until that happens, nor will the public," he said.

You left off the third item on the agenda from that article.....

Hmmmm...

However.... what if these kidnapping perps turn out to be people who are connected to the family....

Then shouldn't the family be held responsible for associating with dangerous people...?

I have a real problem with people who are ready to sue.. place blame on others ...at the drop of the hat... when the event could have been avoided all together if they were responsible for who they let into their lives!

Ohhh ok. I had to read the article. I'm slow tonight.

"Kline said he'll also be looking into the conduct of school officials involved in the case for a possible suit against the district, which he said "has already admitted that there were major security breaches which caused this to happen in the first place, in broad daylight, in a public classroom, involving 5-year-olds."

A civil suit against the school district, Kline said, is last on the list for both him and Rashid."

She doesn't want to talk to LE, imo. So when and if she is questioned by LE, her lawyer will be there to advise her. We'll see how it goes tho...her lawyer may just tell LE his client is not available.

It's beginning to get a little political...between the gfr, the teacher's union and now a high profile lawyer brought in to boot. With so many school shootings in the recent past...especially involving the kindergartners in CT..it a sensitive firecracker of a case. Not only because of concerned parents, but the media as well.

I don't understand why anyone would believe they were owed $$ something. No one at that school would ever wish for this to happen. If I sued it would be to make sure the school had locks on the doors, a buzzer to buzz guests into a waiting area. Retraining for staff. Jmo.

From the article-

Kline has won several big-money cases, including a $51 million verdict

Wowzaa! Tom kline is a very impressive personal injury lawyer! Check out those win$!

Interesting.

" Kline was named to the National Law Journal's Winners Hall of Fame. And he was referred to by the Editorial Board of the The Philadelphia Inquirer as "the high-powered plaintiffs' attorney... who has won a number of eight-figure awards for clients injured or killed due to negligence or incompetence by businesses, government agencies, and nonprofit health-care providers.""

Hmmm, why would she retain such a high profile attorney? Where did she get his name from? I am suspicious at this point.
