PA - Cops: "12 year old shot by moron", Darby

Chief of Darby Police Robert Smythe said it was a moron that shot a little 12 year old girl as she was getting into her grandpop's car. The young girl who is expected to survive was caught in the crossfire between two families feuding................across the street from eachother.

Police have identified two persons of interest in the case as Joshua Singleton and Lynette Crawford who live together.

Always good to know on the front porch police also found weed and two pitbulls that were taken by animal control.

Prayers this young lady gets well soon as she was shot in the hip poor kid.

May 2012:

Joshua Singleton and Lynette Crawford are awaiting arraignment on drug charges. Police Chief Robert Smythe said Singleton was involved in the shooting that stemmed from an argument over drugs...

Smythe said surgeons were unable to remove the bullet from the child and she will have to wear a colostomy bag for six to eight weeks.

June 2012:

Police say that Singleton got into an argument over drugs leading to Vernon Smith opening fire. Police identified Smith as the shooter and began searching the area for him, according to investigators.

Investigators say Smith turned himself in some time between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Wednesday. He is charged with attempted murder and other related offenses. He is currently in jail after failing to post $500,000 bail.

September 2014:

A 25-year-old Darby man was acquitted Friday of attempted murder and aggravated assault charges stemming from a Memorial Day 2012 shooting in which a 12-year-old girl was hit.

Vernon Smith III was also cleared of reckless endangerment and weapons charges for the May 28 shooting, but was convicted on drug charges for items seized from his residence at 905 Forrester Avenue.
