The gunman who ambushed two Pennsylvania State Police troopers outside their barracks, killing one, used a rifle and might have had formal firearms training through the military or law enforcement, authorities said Monday.

State police sought search warrant Monday night


State police obtained a search warrant in Monroe County overnight in connection with the shooting of two state troopers last Friday night.

Magisterial District Judge Michael Muth, whose district encompassses East Stroudsburg, confirmed he issued the warrant, but declined to release a copy or provide specifics of what or where police planned to search.

[h=1]POLICE ZERO IN ON SUSPECT IN PA. TROOPER SHOOTINGS[/h]
Pennsylvania State Police say they know who they are looking for in connection with a weekend shooting that left on state trooper dead and another seriously injured.

Officials tell Action News that they have found a jeep in a swampy area near the shooting scene at the state police barracks in Blooming Grove, Pike County.

They also say evidence was found inside that Jeep that connects the suspect to the ambush.

The vehicle is registered to the suspect's father, police say, tut it's owned by the suspect who lives and works in Delaware.

Police were seen searching in two locations late last night between Pike and Monroe Counties and have been seen armed outside the barracks all morning long.
Our crews in the area have been told to stay away and that the area around the barracks is not safe.
