From reporter Debbie Truong's Twitter coverage of the PC:

Bivens said a computer search indicated Frein searched online on how to evade a manhunt, skills related to survival @PennLive

Bivens said there is no evidence supporting rumors circulating about potential affair between Frein's sister-in-law and Tpr. Douglass

Bivens addressing Frein, "You are a coward. Your actions have caused tremendous disruption to an innocent community."

Bivens, “We have found evidence that he has been tampering with some structures in the area, some abandoned, some vacant.”

No sightings of Frein since Wednesday @PennLive

Authorities have no evidence that anyone is helping Frein, his family has been cooperating with investigation @PennLive

Frein removed the hard drive from his computer prior to the shooting at the Blooming Grove barracks @PennLive

New York and New Jersey state police as well as a number of federal agencies are helping PA state troopers in the search @PennLive

Bivens said several Frein sightings have occurred just as night has fallen, making him difficult to locate by air @PennLive

Search of Buck Hill Inn took approximately 10 to 12 hours @PennLive

Bivens said he doesn't believe Frein will engage officers in a face to face confrontation @PennLive

Pressed about the manpower expended on hunt, Bivens responded, "He is absolutely still a threat to not only the police but the public.”

Bivens said Tpr. Douglass remains in serious but stable condition. Said Douglass was "troubled" about rumors about affair

Snips from the DM

"...Alex Douglass, who was critically injured after being hit in the pelvis, lives less than half a mile from the family of Frein's brother and was friends with the fugitive's sister-in-law Melissa.

Police say they have ruled out the possibility of an affair after 'extensive interviews' with Mrs. Frein, the wife of Michael Frein, which are understood to have included a polygraph test.

'We have investigated the rumor of the affair thoroughly after we learned about it', Pennsylvania Sate police spokesman Trooper Tom Kelly told MailOnline
. 'There is no truth to the affair...." Emphasis mine

"...Kelly confirmed that Douglass and Melissa Frein are friends and there is no way to know whether Eric Frein believed that his sister-in-law was involved with the 31-year-old trooper until and unless they manage to arrest him.

Frein was the best man for his brother Michael when he married Melissa in 2007.
..."

So, this crime was not personal ?

Still seems odd that Frein would choose these particular officers to unload on ; esp. in the light of Frein's dad who claimed his son Eric "...does not miss..."
:moo:
BBM If this was the result of some perceived offense, could the attack have begun as a case of mistaken identity? If the officers were in uniform and Frein was stationed 300 ft. away, it seems plausible and that he then realized he shot the wrong officer. Maybe he wasn't concerned about distinguishing his target, but knew when AD's shift was scheduled and intended to shoot as many officers as he could before they pursued, in hopes of hitting AD.

Sounds like LE have been circling the area where Frein is believed to be hiding, and are narrowing the perimeter each day. It was a large area they were searching at the beginning but now it's much smaller. I hope they will have him soon, and will stay safe. IF AD really was Frein's intended target and EF knows he's still alive, EF could be a danger to anyone in his quest to fulfill his "mission." JMO

My problems with the affair scenario are:

(1) Had it supposedly been going on the whole time he was allegedly preparing?
(2) He still would need an end game - what would be the whole plan from there? Kill one olive officer plus collateral damage and call it quits via being on he run forever? That seems unlikely to me.

I can see maybe this being more about police generally (not that one officer) but then in EF's mind becoming something like "if I'm going to do this, why not take out this guy connected to the rumors while I'm at it." But I am tending to think there's still more to his plan. Could be a "final stand" or could just be to make the PSP look bad and garner criticism (in which case it's working somewhat).

ETA: that said, I am curious about why he didn't go after more people in the original shooting ( why plan for a time when only a couple people are accessible)

Glad to see you in good spirits after this morning's medical rigors, Snoop. I hope everything turned out well. :heartbeat:

Just saw this. Been occupied "elsewhere." I was actually a little bit of a Loopy Snoopy that evening, and I have to do it again this coming week, but I'm okay, I reckon. Thanks for asking!

Every time I click on this thread I hope to see, "Dude Found" in bright red. Sigh. This is such a game for this person, isn't it? His own little Rambo Adventure World? His own Ultimate Video Game Gone Wild? Scary stuff.

I think that ambush was all part of the game for him....and the bigger plan. It seems he is taunting them and trying to lure them into an area he perhaps already has booby-trapped imo. He didn't try to hide his identity, run very far or stay in hiding. jmo

I tend to agree with you. I just can't even begin to imagine how this could all play out, though. (Bear in mind, I have next to no military/ police/ survivalist/ search knowledge, total layperson here. I've only ever even been camping a handful of times as a kid. And only camping in the PNW, not in this area.)

One woman who didn’t want to be identified said she saw Frein on the run, hiding from helicopters.

“Right after the helicopters, like he was timing them, he came up from the road and then just like sort of followed behind them,” she said.

Robert Reinheimer of Canadensis called police about a possible underground hiding spot.

Is there a special psy-op type reason to keep calling him a coward? Not that I think he is heroic, far from it, but the repeated use of "coward" and "cowardly" made me wonder if this was to push his buttons psychologically, especially if he believes he has morphed into his WWII reenactment persona.

Are they trying to woo him out by appealing to his honor as a "soldier?"

Ok I'm sure this has been discussed but could someone help me out, I'm suppose to be getting hubby and my little one ready for the morning but I wanted to ask this quickly...are they using the cameras that detect body heat from helicopters? If this area is remote like I think it is, couldn't they do that and pinpoint where he is? Or am I missing something? My brain doesn't turn on until I have coffee and I just thought about this!

Resorting to insults directed towards the killer doesn't sound professional to me. If that's their idea of psy-ops then they are more backward than I thought.

I've read in news reports that it is hard to pick up heat signatures through the heavy tree cover. I assume this will get easier the longer this lasts as the leaves come off the trees. There are also bears and deer in the area - I remember reading one heat signature they did find and check out turned out to be a couple of deer. Also, if he does have a bunker and/or is remaining immobile for long periods, I'm not sure how those things impact the heat signature but I'm sure they do to some extent.

I think it is probably an attempt to get him off his "game" if he's seeing the news somehow and to draw him out. Given that they have FBI involvement along with many many other LE agencies at both state and federal levels (and I personally don't believe the local LE are "backwards" at all anyway), I am fairly confident that there's a thought-out strategy behind that and not just some off-the-cuff remarks being made.

Ok hubby is out the door :) and I have had coffee! Thanks for the info re heat cameras! I feel so afraid for everyone looking for him...with a sniper rifle and the possibilities of boobie traps, their lives are literally in danger. I pray no other lives are lost in this search.

Eric Frein search seems to intensify
About 2 p.m. Monday, a photographer heard a loud bang in Canadensis near Melograno's Pine Hollow restaurant. A co-manager at the restaurant, Joe Slinger, reported a lot of police officers in the area.

A trooper confirmed the noise was a flash-bang device, often used to stun hidden suspects. There was no official word of what happened.

Also Monday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection helicopters circled the old Barrett Elementary Center on Route 390.
