Residents of NEPA may be getting phone calls from people saying PSP is seeking money to help with search. This is NOT legitimate.

Diapers may not be Frein's;

"Soiled diapers recovered in woods during the manhunt for accused cop killer Eric Matthew Frein may not be his, a source close to the investigation told The Times-Tribune.

Several discovered diapers containing fecal matter would only fit an infant and can be ruled out as not belonging to Mr. Frein, said the source, who asked to remain anonymous."

DNA testing was inconclusive on soiled diapers thought to have been left by Pennsylvania police ambush suspect Eric Frein.....

If the diaper does not fit, you must acquit.

LOL. Let's hope Frein doesn't hire a lawyer from The Cochran Firm to defend him.

I don't remember hearing this before. http://bit.ly/1Edv1EG

"Eric Frein's longtime friend received a text from the suspect around 6:15 p.m. on Sept. 12, The Times-Tribune of Scranton reported Saturday, citing a search warrant affidavit filed in the case."

I'm assuming that they're referring to Justin Smith when they say "longtime friend". I wonder if he knows "why" Eric did what he did.

Suspected gunman Eric Matthew Frein texted a friend “all is good” just hours before police say he ambushed two troopers outside the Blooming Grove barracks, according to a search warrant affidavit.

“I stayed at your place last night,” read the text received by Mr. Frein’s longtime friend, Justin Smith. “I met your aunt. She was showing upstairs to someone.”

The message, received at around 6:15 p.m. on Sept. 12, went on to say Mr. Frein was “heading back to Delaware” and that he would be back next week.

Smith's name was mentioned in court records related to Frein's 2005 arrest on charges he stole clothing from a vendor at a Sept. 11, 2004, military re-enactment in Odessa, N.Y.

In a written statement, Darren Thorne, a witness in that case, noted the Frein was good friends with Smith and that Smith "had a grudge" against the organizer of the event, Scott Thompson. Thorne and Thompson could not be reached for comment.

"We believe Frein was exacting a degree of revenge on behalf of Justin Smith," Hayden said. "Justin Smith was kicked out of the venue because he boasted to people he was planning to get into the event without paying and because he disrupted some maneuvers."

Very active search activity by LE started around 4:15 this afternoon, near a tree nursery.

Pennsylvania State Police spokeswoman, Trooper Connie Devens, confirmed that troopers are investigating a possible sighting in the nearby woods late Sunday afternoon. As of 6 p.m., two helicopters were flying low over the area and armed police were positioned about every 150 feet along several roads. Nunerous troopers could be seen walking through Todd Price Nursery located on Clark Road.

Computers and ammunition among items seized in Frein home search
BY TERRIE MORGAN-BESECKER
Published: October 4, 2014

The inventory return shows police seized three computers, four laptops and tablets, three hard drives, four memory cards and three computer hard drives. They also took other items, including six paper targets, various “writings,” several photographs, bullets, cigarette packs and a book titled Sniper Training and Employment.

The inventory also notes police recovered one “Armasight Night Vision” — a device that allows users to see in the dark — but does not specify what type of device was found.

Seems odd to me.

http://wtvr.com/2014/10/06/eric-frein-pennsylvania-state-police-shooting-letter/

BLOOMING GROVE, Penn. — A handwritten letter thought to have been written by the suspect in the September 12 ambush of two Pennsylvania State Police troopers details how he shot the officers and then escaped, two senior law enforcement sources with knowledge of the investigation told CNN on Monday.

The letter, which authorities found during the manhunt for Eric Matthew Frein, does not offer a motive for the shooting, according to the sources.

Authorities aren’t sure if the letter was left on purpose or by accident, and it’s unclear when or why the letter was written. But based on details contained in it, authorities think it was written by Frein, the officials said.

Frein, 31, is suspected in the September 12 ambush that left Cpl. Byron Dickson dead and another trooper wounded outside the Pennsylvania State Police barracks in Blooming Grove, Pennsylvania. He is still being sought.
