State Police Update: There have been 4 reported sightings of Frein by residents and law enforcement since Friday.

Notes written by Frein were discovered at campsite: "Had a shot around 11pm and took it, he dropped, i was surprised how quickly."

Frein letter: I hit a roadblock after 15 to 20 minutes and went down access road, missed a trail and drove off into runoff pool, "disaster".

Lt. Col. George Bivens: "After reading this cold-blooded account, I can only describe Frein's actions as pure evil."

PSP: We realize we are spending a lot of money. We are working with governor's office on budget issues and trying to control expenses

Due to discovery of pipe bombs, new charges were filed against Frein today charging him with Possessing Weapons of Mass Destruction.

PSP: Notes believed to be written by Frein prove that he did not know which troopers he allegedly shot @WNEP

Jon Meyer @JonMeyerWNEP · 3m3 minutes ago

PSP: Last believed sighting of Frein was yesterday afternoon by law enforcement at about 150 to 200 yards, too far to positively identify.

PSP: Letter written by Frein did not include any future plans, only details of police barracks ambush and what followed.

PSP: There are areas where brush is so thick, one trooper can't see another trooper 15 feet away. Sightings of Frein are only a glimpse.

State police "absolutely certain" Frein's journal is his and written by person who did the shooting. Handwriting experts are examining it.

State police say they continue to find items that are Frein's and they continue to test them to verify that.

<snipped>
Authorities found a checklist in Eric Frein's bedroom detailing various supplies they say the suspected gunman would need to survive in the wilderness after shooting two state troopers at the Blooming Grove barracks.

"Undies, sleep clothes and poncho liner," were among the clothing items listed, along with camp supplies including a compass, flashlight, stove and fuel.

A YouTube video posted Thursday night purports to show Eric Matthew Frein firing Airsoft guns while re-enacting scenes from the heist movie “Heat.”

The 5 minute and 42 second video, posted on the YouTube channel of “CellTherapyCream,” appears to be from a portrayal of the 1995 Michael Mann film starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino. Titled “Heat of the Game,” the video begins with a man identified as “Moondog” explaining the scenario. The post does not say when the video was recorded or where, but it is in a wooded area, and trees in the background do not yet have leaves on them.

Mr. Frein, who is wanted on charges of killing one state trooper and critically wounding another in a Sept. 12 ambush at the Blooming Grove state police barracks, is identified on screen as “Vucko.” On a MySpace page for a group that Mr. Frein is pictured with repeatedly, dressed in fatigues, he is referred to in one photo as “Vuchko.”

Mr. Frein is visible in the background of much of the video, dressed in jeans and a suit jacket with the sleeves rolled up, carrying an Airsoft submachine gun, which fires plastic BBs, and duffle bag. He is portraying one of the bank robbers in the cops-and-robbers scenario.

“We’re going to carry one at a time, dude,” Mr. Frein says at one point in the video, referring to the duffle bags that represent the “loot.”

Troopers searching for Eric Frein get support from region
October 12, 2014
WILKES-BARRE -- By the orange and black of their jerseys, it was easy to tell [D.F.] and his son Gabriel were rooting against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins during their Saturday night season opening hockey game against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

But they stood united with the fans of their rivals in support of the Pennsylvania State Police and purchased "PSP Strong" T-shirts as the fundraiser for the families of the troopers shot last month came to the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza.

Can Mother Nature help capture Pennsylvania trooper shooting suspect?
October 12, 2014
Now that it's getting colder and the leaves are starting to fall, the advantage could soon shift to law enforcement, experts say. But the challenge remains no less daunting as police track an armed suspect - already accused of killing one officer and injuring another - in a wilderness that offers plenty of places to hide.

"I wish people could understand how hard it is to find people in the woods," said Patrick Patten, who helped track Eric Rudolph, the 1996 Atlanta Olympics bomber who eluded authorities for years in the woods of western North Carolina. "It truly is a massive undertaking."

YIKES!!! That's something I don't want to think about. But, I admit I do. I keep hoping every day that I'll read Frein has been captured. I hate that it's taking so long to find him, but understand that it's not easy tracking him down in the woods. I'm thinking that he must be wearing down, getting weak with hunger, cold, etc. But, we don't know how well equipped he was. Was Frein prepared to survive in the woods this long? Does he have an underground bunker hidden deep in the woods where he has access to more supplies, and where there's warmth? Hopefully, he didn't prepare himself for this predicament as well as he thought.

In Poconos, weariness sets in as manhunt for Eric Frein grinds on

Sometimes police gather to confirm information that's already been leaked or published. Sometimes they hand out court documents with new details.

It was at such a briefing last month that police first disclosed they had found diapers and cigarettes they believe Frein left behind in the woods. Later, they acknowledged he had been planning the attack for years. Then they disclosed finding two homemade pipe bombs and released photos of the explosives. They think he stashed other provisions, and is surviving on tuna and ramen noodles.

They've acknowledged Frein sightings - some from as close as 75 yards - but said he always flees back into the woods - his woods.

Frein's one misstep - turning on his cellphone one night early in the manhunt - enabled them to shrink the search perimeter. But five square miles is still more than 3,000 acres.

Pa. state senator calls for review of Frein manhunt

A hearing, she said, would allow lawmakers to discuss issues such as the safety at state police barracks, communication policies, costs of the search, and the impact the search has had on residents and businesses. Baker's list of items to review also included overall responses to emergencies and the impact of the search on "innocent citizens."

I have lived out in the Midwest and currently live in the western US. It is amazing to me that the man has managed to elude authorities for so long.

I am not being derogatory against the actions being taken but just comparing to our terrain out here.

When the man shot the cops in Cali last year I believe it was, it did not take them long to smoke him out. He was holed up in a cabin.

When I looked at the terrain where this guy is though, it just is something that he can do this for six weeks or more.

Amazing how the terrain can make so much of an influence on evasion and escape.

Hope they catch him quick.
