I just got back from a drive around. 52 is open south of 1, but most of the side roads are blocked. Greenhill and the ramps to Longwood, as well as Kendall have a heavy police presence. My thoughts are with your sister! Unfortunately on my drive around I realize that right now they really don’t have a good idea of where he is, they have heavy presence sites both sides of Route 1, and it looks like the perimeter has become pretty enormous. Add to that I hear there was a freight train that left Kennett this AM for Wilmington and it left before they could check it out. i am kind of hoping he was on it, since he would be gone from my area, but OTOH it would make it so much harder to find him in the long run. I just hope we got another sighting soon so we have a better idea of where he is.
Appreciate your kindness and update, I asked my sister on phone this morning about certain distances to certain means of get-away, mentioned freight train line and it was not far from her, and the Brandywine River being another avenue to float south, maybe at night. Praying no one gets kidnapped or injured as with each day I would think he becomes more desperate. Just got a family group text he has been sighted on Snuff Mill (I do not know for sure that is spelled right because it came through on a text). Hopefully its just a matter of time for his capture.

Wow was just over on Snuff Mill, which is way south in Centerville, DE. It was the first road I could cut west on off 52 that would get me back to my area. I ended up taking it to Old Kennett Rd and went up into KSQ. I really hope he hasn’t made it that far. There are a lot of calls coming in that turn out to be nothing, I hope that ends up being one of them. If it is him, he is moving very fast now.

I had to look up Snuff Mill and your right, that is much farther outside the current perimeter. I agree with you on sighting calls, LE probably receiving quite a few.

This guy will be caught. He's not far but they're hours behind. If he had a plan or an idea of where to go he would be gone already.

EDIT I forgot to comment on the goods he's acquiring along the way. It's my assumption that he's taking them from homes for food and evening warmth. He only really needs water. He's making no effort to change his appearance thus he will be caught. My thoughts only go to what else he could've picked up from the kitchen.
Good point that he'd be gone already. I wonder how familiar he is with that area.

The northeast is having a heat wave with highs in the 90s and lows in the 70s, so he's probably not picking up anything for warmth at night, but maybe to disguise himself.

The manhunt for Cavalcante expanded to include immediate areas surrounding Longwood Gardens, according to law enforcement, and is still an active and ongoing investigation. Officials are urging people near the area to check surveillance cameras around the home, cars and to remain vigilant, and to call 911 immediately with any information on Cavalcante's current location.

RBBM -- I sure hope not, that would put him real close to me. There's a big freight train depot (I guess?) at the old GM plant in Wilmington, which is now a giant Amazon campus which is probably where it would have been going. I've gotten stopped at that train so many times in my life. It's one of those that is 10 minutes long and then you think it's going to finally end and it starts backing up which takes another 10 minutes.

Is his left arm near the wrist bandaged in that photo where he seems to be looking at the camera?

Been stuck waiting for that stupid train a million times down in Prices Corner trying to get home from i95, it‘s like a 45 minute wait in the middle of the night.. argh!

no official mentioned it but a bunch of us have seen it and think it is. The undergrowth here is extremely rough, he could have gotten scratched up badly. The underbrush could also explain him wearing a long sleeved hoodie in this heat

It does look like it. Good catch. Could be that he punched out a window to break in somewhere or to breakout of jail? LE probably knows if he left any blood behind. He could have fallen and injured it to but seems he wrapped up the hand too. Curious if he is left or right handed and was savvy enough to use his nondominante hand if he did punch something to break in.

I don’t think he is familiar with this area at all. That being said, he was in jail for an extended time with internet access, so he may have spent a lot of time studying the area roads and terrain

Are there any railcams at Kennet that might shed some light on his where abouts?

Yep, that's the exact one. I grew up near Prices Corner and I could hear that train coming and going at all hours of the night. You gotta jump onto 141 when you see it so you are on the road going OVER the train track to avoid it. I wonder if they have cams back in that train yard now? When I was a little teenage hellion shi t we used to go back in there and spray paint rail cars (I know it was a bad thing to do, but I was a little punk) at 2 or 3 AM and never saw ANYONE. This was in like the early to mid 2000s. We would spend 45 minutes painting a car and you would never see a single soul. With the new Amazon center there and the increase in technology and accessibility of cameras there must be cams back there now but I haven't been in decades. If they end up saying he got on a train I will definitely go down there and explore.

Police suspect Danelo Cavalcante might still be hiding in Longwood Gardens, a sprawling horticulture attraction about 5 miles southwest of the prison he escaped from six days ago in Pocopson Township.

"He’s trying to escape and that’s what he managed to do. He found a point that he could squeeze through that perimeter and he traveled south," Lt. Col. George Bevins, deputy commissioner of operations for the Pennsylvania State Police, said at a news conference Tuesday.

Bevins said Longwood Gardens, which was closed on Tuesday due to the search, is just south of a perimeter police had established in a residential area where Cavalcante was spotted Sunday night by a state trooper.
PHOTO: Escapee Danelo Cavalcante is seen in trail-cam video on the property of Longwood Gardens, Sept. 4, 2023, in Pennsylvania.

The 34-year-old Cavalcante was recorded twice on the private trail camera set up at Longwood Gardens, Bevins said. He said the escapee was first recorded at 8:21 p.m. Monday walking north in the gardens and was captured by the same camera at 9:33 p.m. walking south.

Bevins showed grainy black-and-white images taken from the trail camera of Cavalcante. Bevins pointed out that the fugitive was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and carrying a backpack and a duffle bag, items he is suspected of stealing since his Aug. 31 escape from the Chester County Prison.

Bevins estimated that "several hours" elapsed between the time Cavalcante was recorded on the camera and when officers analyzed the footage and confirmed it was him.

"You're dealing with someone who is desperate and doesn’t want to get caught," Bevins said. "He’s a bad guy. He needs to be in custody and we're determined to capture him."

The gardens and all that surrounding DuPont land is so large and sprawling. A ton of trees/forests/woods to move through. A lot of the roads are single lane, hilly, and windy roads cutting through parklands and woods so it cuts down on the chance of people seeing him on a highly traveled road like rt 1. JMO

Absolutely. And if he headed SE he could wind up in the Brandywine Battlefield, another sprawling expanse of woods and fields.
