I would imagine he simply hotwired the van- no keys needed. And if he can hotwire, he can switch cars as he needs to, and could be clear down to Mexico by now. :( (I certainly hope he isn't but I have a bad feeling.)
He seems to want to remain in Chester County Area - or he’d be gone by now - gone long ago. He’s got personal AGENDAS and he seems very fixated/ obsessed with fulfilling them- & those are here. It’s personal vendettas… IMO
Police need to upping area Alcohol Beverage businesses. He gets extremely violent on booze & looks quite drunk or high from eyes and smiling wickedly when munching down friends porch box of whatever snack it was.

Yes, I've been wondering why he doesn't venture far from that area. I'm keeping an eye on the location because I don't live all that far from there.

Lack of cash for fuel or fare? Didn't he ditch one vehicle when it ran out of gas?

I'm glad to see JLR© made it out okay. He lost police last night and was in a panic chasing them down and his driving through backcountry was off the hook. Worried for his safety and/or he would be ticketed. He's on the case again. moo

Accordingly, it was reported the white van ditched because of low fuel. moo

Going on a bit of a tangent, but I'd like to visit the place someday while on a road trip. I never heard of it before! Maybe, just maybe, the publicity will be make others want to visit too.

I agree! I’m in Texas and thought the same thing. It looks beautiful!

Not far from yesterday’s sighting, a little south east maybe going in the town for supplies.

Traffic on maps is backing up north of the town.

Eta

Just above the town a farmer has a picture in a field of a cow calf barn tractor. Very good work, ludwigs corner.

Watching a JLR© video and he is showing us where van (found via GPS) located. There is a brick? shed/barn/out-house close by. I'm sure the "shed" has been searched? moo

Personally, I am hoping that he goes to prison, and stays there. But his continued deluding of the police really is concerning. What are people supposed to do, if they need to go to school or work?
I hate this for everybody in the area. While I don't think he would kill a random stranger to who he had no connection, the fact of the matter is that he is a highly dangerous convicted murderer and there is always the risk of that. Even if not murder there is the chance for him to commit other crimes (as he's already burglarized homes and stolen a vehicle). People have lives to get on with, jobs and school and social visits, they shouldn't have to live in terror with this man running loose. IMO it's getting ridiculous at this point and SERIOUS action needs to be taken.

Cavalcante on Saturday stole a transit van, which authorities discovered abandoned in East Nantmeal Township later that night, Lt. Col. George Bivens of the Pennsylvania State Police said at a news conference on Sunday afternoon. Investigators found that keys had been left inside the vehicle and determined that the escapee did use the van, Bivens said.

Bolding and underlining by me.

The basic timeline of sightings to date is:
SOURCE: Danelo Cavalcante news timeline: Everything that happened since Pennsylvania prison escape
  • Aug 31 (TH, around 9 am): DC escaped from Chester County Prison.
  • Aug 31 (TH, around an hour later): DC spotted by witness walking on Wawaset Rd in nearby Pocopson Township.
  • Sept 4 (Mon night): DC twice captured on trail cams walking through Longwood Gardens (3 miles from prison).
  • Sept 5 (Tues): DC sighted walking into woods behind residential area in Pennsbury Township.
  • Sept 7 (TH): DC sighted just before noon local time at Longwood Gardens.
  • Sept 8 (Fri evening): DC entered house in Pocopson while residents home and left with peach, apple, some snap peas, and a white hat (which he left in a neighbor's yard).
  • Sept 10 (Sun evening): DC approached the homes of two separate former co-workers in Phoenixville who did not answer his contact attempts and who contacted LE to report the attempts.
(ETA: The transit van was stolen from the dairy Sat night, Sept 9, but LE did not learn of it until after the reports from former co-workers about attempted contact.)

So, where was DC from Thurs, Aug 31 to Mon, Sept 4 if he was only 3 miles from the prison when he finally surfaced? Did he at one time HAVE assistance that he LOST on Monday, Sept 4? And if so, why would he have stayed in the area while he did have assistance?
