Missing Endangered Person Derick Johnson from the 12th District – Blotter

The Philadelphia Police Department is requesting the public’s help in locating a missing endangered person, 73-year-old Derick Johnson.

On December 31, 2024, at 4:31 PM, Mr. Johnson was reported missing by his wife. He is living with cognitive impairment and was last seen earlier that day, at approximately 1:30 PM, at the Dollar Tree located at 2910 S. 70th Street. According to his wife, she left him asleep in her vehicle while she went into the store. When she returned, he was no longer there.

Mr. Johnson is described as 5’7”, 160 pounds, and was last seen wearing a brown jacket, a gray hooded sweatshirt, and black sneakers.

Anyone with information about Mr. Johnson’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Southwest Detective Division at 215-686-3183 or dial 911.

So the wife left the husband asleep in the car while she went into the store. Did she lock the car, or leave it unlocked? Had she done this before without any problems, or was this the first time? Have the store's surveillance cameras been checked to see what might have happened to Mr. Johnson? Many questions here. I hope he's found safe soon!
