GUILTY PA - Ebony Dorsey, 14, Ambler, 6 Dec 2007

  • #41
Hi Cubby. I hear what you're saying. Ebony's dad is grieving terribly I am sure and no disrespect is right, but a morning phone call each day doesn't automatically make him "super dad". Perhaps he did try and get custody of Ebony. Perhaps he was one of the men figured a child is always better off with her mother? Guess we won't know, BUT here's a link. Danielle Cattie the mother of Ebony turned herself in today to face child endangerment charges. Included is possesion of a controlled substance. SURPRISE, she got a prior drug conviction so she may see some time. http://www.cumberlink.com/articles/2007/12/19/ap-state-pa/d8tkle681.txt

The trial has opened for the murder of Ebony Dorsey. Mark O'Donnell's Defense Attorney points out that O'Donnell has never denied murdering Ebony. He even said he murdered Ebony while TV camera's rolled. However the Attorney for O'Donnell said he never admitted sexually assaulting the young girl or premeditating.

More at link about Ebony's mother testifying and her sentence to come up on some charges.

I live and work in Montgomery County, PA and this poor girl was killed on my birthday. I actually drove past the neighborhood Ebony was dumped in the day before it happened. It's such a horrible story. I am surprised, however, that there is even a trial. I would've thought there'd be a plea deal involved.

From March 2009:

Danielle Cattie, 36, of the 300 block of Maple Street in the Ambler section of Whitpain, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court on March 3 to three to 23 months in the county jail, to be followed by three years’ probation, after she pleaded guilty to charges of endangering the welfare of a child and possessing drug paraphernalia in connection with December 2007 incidents...

“Your entire life with Mark O’Donnell was deplorable. It was horrific. It presented irresponsible episodes that affected your family,” Judge William J. Furber Jr. lectured a sobbing Cattie as he imposed the punishment. “You are responsible to a certain degree for what happened here”...

Furber, who presided over O’Donnell’s six-day, non-jury trial last summer... In addition to life imprisonment, Furber sentenced O’Donnell to a consecutive 11- to 22-year prison term on charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and abuse of a corpse.
