PA - Ellen Greenberg, 27, Philly teacher’s brutal stabbing, ruled suicide but possible homicide, Jan 2011

  • #441
I believe the suspect was protected from the beginning, and sadly will continue to be. I wish people would scream from the streets over this case.
Yes, but it may be wiser to focus on that later on. And to keep an open mind. Ellen Greenberg was an exceptionally beautiful woman. I haven’t seen her in a video - so perhaps that would not have the same effect as the photos - but I’m thinking she could attract a lot of unwanted attention. A lot.

There may be something about this murder that casts doubt on the - very connected - fiancé's ethics. But it might be less than murder. It could be infidelity, drugs, mental health, sexuality, swinging…the usual suspects. something perceived as bad but not ”murder bad”.

This is total speculation. I know how it looks. But she loved him and he certainly would have to be a first class faker if he was not grieving after her death.

Oh I know the 911 call. The getting engaged to another months after ( I guess 2011?). Her numerous bruises obtained at different times. Her asking for his permission to a greater extent.

I guess it’s mostly wishful thinking, but I hold some hope there is another perpetrator.

I would say it could be knife play gone wrong, but it seems unlikely. And even more unlikely that the same person would kill her three times over if so.

I’m counting the stab to:

1) the heart
2) her cerebellum
3) her liver (would take longer).

Anyhow, There is data mining that should be done here.

Not to avenge Ellen but to excise the rot and correct erroneous legal practices going forward.

Now only my opinion but the other half quickly wanted to make this suicide and sweep the whole thing under the rug. He didn’t fight to find out the truth, which is totally obvious it wasn’t suicide. Plus to this day he says the same thing…… that speaks volumes to me. Unless there’s another reason he doesn’t this case looked at. Her parents know the truth, they just can’t get anyone to listen…..anyone willing to do the right thing.

Yes. But if that’s true (and I think you are, for me it’s 95%), we will never find out the truth.

Not ever.

Pretty sure we know the truth, but justice may not be served which totally sticks for her and her family. They need someone like Allen Jackson to go in there and raise some hell. More publicly, something.

Everyone knows the truth in this case, including the involved officials (MOO). But in order to admit the truth, so many people would go down and so the system will protect itself thereby protecting the very obvious perpetrator. It is so incredibly frustrating that this is the most obvious murder case of all time and the people in charge continue to pretend as if we don't all see it.

Like MyJoey said, maybe someone like Alan Jackson could push some change but even that might be difficult at this point. So sad.

Lamb McErlane has a long and strong history in the area. I think they've made a good choice.
Agreed. Honest, align with reality and sincere in practicing law.

And here's BE with an update. It's a shocker. Not really.
Brian does a two minute video at link noting the below info, recaps Ellen's case and also graphic/sensitive photos:

5 months ago -- The City of Philadelphia said they would re-examine the death of Ellen Greenberg.
5 months has gone by.
And her parents say the city has still done NOTHING.
They have now filed a motion demanding a judge "enforce the settlement agreement."

At 1:30 pm today there is a scheduled hearing where Ellen Greenberg’s parents are requesting the court to enforce the settlement they made with the City of Philadelphia, which would require the city to review Ellen’s autopsy immediately. As many may know, the review still has not happened.

DEVELOPING— A Philadelphia judge blasted city attorneys for delays in re-examining the 2011 suspicious death of Ellen Greenberg. Earlier this year, the Greenbergs reached an agreement with the city to expeditiously review the circumstances of Ellen’s death. (1/2)

The judge said she’s frustrated with the 5 months it’s taken for the review. “From the beginning - I didn't understand why this (death certificate) couldn't be changed to “undetermined.” The Greenbergs say Ellen was murdered, despite officials saying she committed suicide

After a lengthy meeting behind closed doors, the judge is giving the city until October 14th to wrap up its re-examination.

The judge in the Ellen Greenberg case in Philadelphia was pretty fed up with the city today. The city promised an autopsy review - but never did it. Why won’t they just do it? Every expert I’ve spoken to says it’s not suicide and she couldn’t stab herself 20 times.

Same clip/same warning/graphic content

Finally a voice of reason.

Those were some powerful statements from the judge. At some point enough has got to be enough.

Just set a deadline and a penslty of $1.2M if they don’t get this done before December.

I truly do not understand why there needs to be hearings and so much nonsense for this family to get answers. There is clearly no way someone would be able to stab themselves repeatedly in the back, even if they were a skilled contortionist. As a Philly taxpayer and voter I am infuriated at the incompetence on so many levels. 🤬

Absolutely.

I get that the city will resent the face-palming level of indifference/ incompetence of the original investigation being exposed -- but it has already been exposed. Stalling now only makes things worse; as per the judge's rebuke and possible sanctions.

Admit the mistakes, blame it on whomever if you need to, and get on with sorting the case out, starting with the autopsy review, knowing that any damages and loss of face are only going to grow with continued obstinance.
